THIS CD IS THE BEST EVER OF SNATAM KAURS. SHE HAS OUTDONE HERSELF THIS TIME! YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL HER SPIRIT AS SHE SINGS THESE SONGS. SHE IS AN AMAZING PERSON AS WELL AS SINGER. IF YOU NEED TO GAIN SOME PEACE IN YOUR LIFE OR JUST WANT TO DO A LITTLE SOUL SEARCHING, THEN THIS IS THE DISC FOR YOU. SIT BACK, LISTEN AND ENJOY AS HER SPIRIT AND THE SPIRIT OF GOD FILL YOU FROM HEAD TO TOE WITH PEACE AND TRANQUILITY.

Buy Anand (Anand means 'Bliss' in Sanskrit) and listen for yourself. If you aren't moved to tears and cannot appreciate the beauty of what you are experiencing, then you better check your pulse! If you do have a pulse, I'm sure you will not fail to sense Snatam Kaur's connection with the sacred. This is heartfelt, spiritual music in the purest sense of the word. It will enrich your life. I also highly recommend her 2002 album Prem (Prem is from the Sanskrit 'Preman', meaning 'Divine Love'), which is also a gem to behold.
Societal commentary: Snatam is the antidote to American Idol that you've been waiting for... often, artists of true substance are eclipsed by what is more popular, marketable, or more pleasing to the ear on a superficial level. To me, Snatam has turned this equation upside down: She's all about substance, and to my ear, she can sing circles around any 'American Idol' star...

I have no idea what the bloke below is talking about. Once again, the Sikh Princess is back in the house with an absolutely fantastic album!
Good for listening, meditation and general relaxation! Anyone, regardless of whether you believe in god or not, can listen to this CD and feel a sense of peace and a deeper connection to their soul. If you've heard her previous stuff, it is different from that (as always) which is a good thing. Thanks Snatam!

Spirit soars in this CD of Snatam Kaur. I find I love nearly every song on it. Good early morning music, or any time that you are in the mood for beauty and clarity and centeredness.

I adore all of Snatam Kaur's music but this album is my favorite. The radiant and blissful melodies are especially deep, abiding and beautiful. They all burn brightly with the true, healing fire of awareness. I greatly enjoy meditating, dancing and singing with this music. Listen and drink deeply!

One of the most beautiful sounding albums ever. So wonderful that I am buying it twice. Why? Well, the MP3 download sounds HORRIBLE! This record is a well-composed collection of music, however the Mp3 files are over-modulated with various clips. I am going back for the CD purchase for the best quality.

I adore Snatam Kaurs music. She has a voice that transcends and heals. I was very disappointed in this particular piece because she added a male background singer, whose voice is like an off key synthesizer. Every time he starts singing, it throws off the entire sound, and I have ended up just saving the couple tracks that he doesn't sing on.
I would be so happy if she doesn't do this again

A Little More Esoteric Than Previous Recordings,

As a Sikh (Hari Sangat Singh) I am truly in awe of the amazing voice and clarity of Snatam Kaur as a channel of divine inspiration in the creation of music in conveying the words of the Guru's through their shabads (songs). However, this recording is not for the uninitiated, it has less musicality and lacks the broad appeal of such recordings as "Prem" and "Grace" (rated these as five star recordings) also by Snatam Kaur. This recording may be a more apt choice for those who have heard Gurumukhi (language sung not spoken) sung by the Granthi's (keepers of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Which is the Sikh scripture that contains the living words of the Sikh guru's and other great saints). This scripture is treated as if it were the living embodiment of these same saints and guru's when it is sung in Gurumukhi. This being said, it is not my intention to diminish the voice and channel of divine inspiration that Snatam Kaur Khalsa so ably gives to us in her musical interpretations of these shabads. I am recommending this recording for those who may be more familiar with the subtleties of the Sikh faith. If you are seeking a slightly more esoteric recording which contains slightly less commercial appeal, than this one would be a good choice. Personally, I am rating this four stars as well but the appeal for me is bound to be different than for those hoping to hear a broader more layered musical presentation. Tracks of note include: 1. Guru Ram Das Raakho Saranaa-ee (literally: Fourth Sikh Guru; Guru Ram Das protect us); 2. Jap Man Sat Nam (literally: meditate man/woman on the true name); 3. Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam (literally: The One god who created the creation truth is his name); and the intriguing melody for: 4. "Kabir's Song" using the words of the venerated Sufi musician-poet-saint who is revered by by Sikh's, Muslim's, and Hindu's alike. Kabir's shabads are also contained in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. On a couple of tracks a classical Indian voice works rather loosely in conjunction with Snatam Kaur's and doesn't always sound appropriate with her voice. Although, it is hard to fault anything that Snatam Kaur Khalsa has done with her inspiring voice and a group of very apt backing musicians utilizing classical Indian instruments. But if you do not yet own "Prem" and "Grace", I would recommend these as a first choice. Thanks and Sat Nam - to the divine in all of us.
