Brilliant book on ecological-anarchism,
By Marc (Coral Springs, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anarchism and Ecology (Hardcover)
I personally think this work is brilliant for a number of reasons. Graham Purchase has been one of my favorite contemporary anarchist theoreticians with insights that I very much agree with. Mr. Purchase believes that the only way to halt the present destruction of society and the environment by capitalism and the nation-state, individuals and communities should form global federations of agro-industrial communes. Borrowing ideas from the ecological-anarchist theoreticians Fourier, Reclus, and Kropotkin, he argues for integration of city and country, alternative renewable energy resources, and democratic decentralization. He argues for a wholesome, balanced, and ecologically-integrated social-ecololgical anarchy that provides for the needs of all. This future world can be reached by practical means, by direct citizen actions in cities and workplaces to achieve a more just, sane, and sensible world. Wonderful! if you are interested in this book, you should also read Purchase's "Anarchism and Environmental Survival" or any of MurrayBookchin's books.
