4.0 out of 5 stars An overall good book leaves us wanting more, April 4, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Anastasia Again (Paperback)
Anastasia Again is the sequel to Anastasia Krupnik, and the prequel to Anastasia, at this address, Anastasia at your service, etc. Anastasia Krupnik is upset when she learns she has to move with her parents to the suburbs. The only way she will accept the move is if she can live in a tower. When her parents FIND a house with a tower, she has no choice but to accept the move. With her faithful goldfish Frank, this book makes you want to run out and buy the next book. I give it 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anastasia Again Book Reiview, May 14, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Anastasia Again! (Hardcover)
Anastasia Again is about a girl that is in the 6th grade and moves to the suburbs. She moves because her apartment is getting too small since her mom is a painter and needs a studio and her dad is a writer and needs bookshelves. Anastasia is 12 and her brother Sam is still a baby. Her father Mr. Krupnik asks what everybody wants in their new house. Anastasia said, "how about a tower for my bedroom". She thought if she asked for something so outrageous she would not have to leave her home and her friends. To Anastasia's surprise, one day they went out to look at the new house and there was a tower on it where Anastasia's room was going to be. They moved in and Sam saw a lady next door and said that she looks like a witch. Anastasia is curious of what Sam saw because she did not believe him. She goes over to the neighbor's house to see if she really does look like a witch. Sam wants to go so they go over there with the excuse to get a pitcher cause their mom wants to make ice tea. So they go over but Sam hid behind a bush at the front door. You'll have to read the book to see what happens next.

3.0 out of 5 stars I wish I were Anastasia..., March 31, 2011

Anastasia has to move from the apartment in Cambridge she's lived in all her life out to the dreaded suburbs! However will she adjust?
I have always been incredibly jealous of Anastasia's life, ever since I was her age. Her parents treat her like a person and respect her input, her father teaches at Harvard, she lives in the Boston area, and now she has a house with a tower bedroom! (I do realize that Anastasia is fictional.)
Lowry has created a very realistic narrator that young people will relate to. She surrounds her protagonist with quirky, well-drawn characters, then puts her in some very common situations. Young people will recognize the plot lines from their own lives, and be entertained by the off-the-wall characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Young and Not-So-Young!, December 23, 2009
This review is from: Anastasia Again (Paperback)
I read this I believe about 10-12 years ago,and although at that time, I was approaching my late thirties, I loved it! I found it laugh-out-loud funny at times, really! The way Anastasia "talks" throughout the story is riotous! She is very witty, and sharp. Her impressions, and observations of those around her are entertaining, at the very least! She is like a miniature adult,as is her little brother Sam.I especially enjoyed Gertrude Stein, and the reference to Art Garfunkel! What a HOOT! I think you will really enjoy this book...The characters, the humor, the "dramas" that beset this utterly charming young girl will make you want more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a sweet story, January 21, 2003

This is one of those books that should win a Newbury Award Medal because of the character development. The friendship that Anastasia develops with the neighbor lady is wonderful, as well as Sam, but I will save that surprise for when you read the book. It has another one of Lois Lowry's beloved twists of plot that surprises you. Plus, it has all these great jokes about what suburbs are supposedly like. If you like Anastasia, you MUST pick up this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Anastasia Again, May 3, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Anastasia Again (Paperback)
Lois Lowry wrote a lot of exciting books, but the three books I read were Number the Stars, The Giver, and Anastasia Again. They all were great books, but I liked Anastasia Again the best. It is an inspiring book for all ages. If you read this book you will think the same thing. It is an awesome book to read on a vacation or road trip. It's also a great book on which to do a book report. So read the book, you will not be able to stop reading because it's a fantastic book.

I loved this book.It was funny, serious, and just down-right good.Girls who are ages 10-12 would find this book especially good.Anastasia goes through most of all the same situations that almost all other pre-teenage girls go through.I enjoyed this book a lot,and I think that all girls should read it.Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars I take this book everywhere I go!, September 10, 1999

This review is from: Anastasia Again (Paperback)
Anastasia Again is about a young girl named Anastasia and she is having some problems. Her parents want to move to the suburbs but she says that she doesn't want to move because all the articles say bad things about the suburbs. I really like this book. I read the first few pages and I love it. Everywhere I go I take it with me. Lois Lowry is a great writer. I think that what Lois Lowry is trying to say is that things that seem bad sometimes come out being good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A special book, September 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Anastasia Again (Paperback)
Anastasia Again holds a special place in my heart. I bought it at a used book sale in third grade, and have loved ever since. Now that I am in college, I still keep it under my pillow as the perfect cure for insomnia. In fact I have read this book so many times that if you give me the first line of a passage, I van continue the quote for you. So.. though I am on to reading bigger and better things now, I move anyone to buy this book and allow it to take you on a journey you will never forget.
