About the Author

Author, Sheila Kilpatrick wrote the Anastasia Pickering series for everyone who has faced a rainy day. She believes perplexing or difficult situations can present us with colorful answers if we listen to our inner (fairy) voices. Sheila, a breast cancer survivor has faced her own rain with the help of loyal friends and family. Sarah, her niece, Will, her nephew and Lexi, her great niece's magical points of view helped her see reflective healing colors in the quiet of the rain. She hopes Anastasia's rain will open young minds to a different perspective as they face the showers and downpours of their own lives. "Anastasia's Rain" is her first children's book. Other books under construction in the Anastasia Pickering series are: "Indigo, Spindigo, Where did Rufus Go?", "Monkeys Here, Monkeys There, Monkeys, Monkeys Everywhere!", "A Topsy Turvy Birthday Party!" and "Who is that Doggie in the Costume?"You can find Sheila In Virginia Beach, Virginia. She will be writing stories, riding her horse, cooking or playing with her canine friends, CoJack and Houston. Don't forget your umbrella!

Anastasia Pickering is a girl all children can relate to and learn from. There is so much to look at on every page and this is a great tool for all kinds of learning for a wide range of young kids. The illustrations hold the reader's attention very well. Learning patience and staying positive through all situations and learning to listen to your inner voice are great lessons learned within the book. I will be giving it as gifts throughout this next year to all my young friends. I can't wait to see what Anastasia's next adventure will be!

My daughter and I love this sweet and positive story! It's not only entertaining but a great example about the rewards of being patient. We have a dog that reminds us of Rufus, the sweet little pup from the animal shelter (with his hair sticking out in all directions) It's a happy ending when he finds love in his new home w/ Anastasia and the Pickering family. The colorful sprinkles and raindrops add a nice touch of fantasy to a wonderful story that we continue to read over and over. I am looking forward to the next story!

Not only is this book well written, beautifully illustrated and a great teaching tool but my son enjoys it as much as my daughter! Anastasia is "active" enough to get his attention and Rufus the dog reminds him of his own dog. The lesson is easily discernible to both my kids which led to an open dialogue on patience and ways to use it in their own lives. We can't wait for Anastasia's next adventure!
