4.0 out of 5 stars As What You'd Expect October 17, 2010
Verified Purchase
If you look carefully at the description of the items, there are no unpleasant surprises when your box arrives. You will get a skull (in fact it was carefully packed and padded to arrive safely) and a bunch of other bones of different sizes. But don't expect to get what you see in the product picture above -- you won't be getting 3 skulls at all. The bones are typical for the Bucky skeleton; solid and heavy. There was no discoloration among what I received and they look much better than the cheaper foam bones you could also buy.
All in all worth getting and perfect for hanging down from your roof or tree limbs on Halloween night. The price is not really a bargain, but they can be used every year.
On a side note this product should have a higher rating..it is sad that a few clowns who think they're being funny have to ruin the reviews with their garbage.

1.0 out of 5 stars *Not* recommended for soup January 21, 2009
By Ian
Not only was the final product terrible, but when I went to throw them away, one of the pointier ribs tore a hole through the bag, spilling tibulae and fibulae onto the sidewalk. This led to a very awkward conversation with my neighbor, and subsequently, the police. In short, I cannot recommend these bones, nor can I recommend Target store-brand trash bags (kitchen size).

And use the limitations of these fake bones, and their 4th class status, to your advantage. Miniature bones? Plant some in your garden and discover a hobbit graveyard. Full sized bones with stains? Bury them deeply in your neighbor's yard. You know the rest...

4.0 out of 5 stars Bag of bones January 11, 2009
I was taking a final in my Anatomy class and this was a big help...the only thing that would have been nicer would be a better mixture of bones. There were several duplicates, and some of the bones were missing. The different sizes were o.k., but more variety would be better.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Indie Low Budget PD - Notes December 30, 2013
Verified Purchase
Firstly, I was skeptical about purchasing this product. The reviews were all over the place and the consensus was that there was no guarantee at what exactly would be arriving.

Having just opened the bag today (having been purchased to fit in the moderate production design budget of a short film), I am beyond happy with the purchase. The bones have weight (don't know whether or not they're as heavy as naturally occurring human bones because I'm a filmmaker, not a medical student or serial killer), and they are anatomically correct. The bag that I received contained a full-sized skull with jaw attached by two springs, one hand with wire frames (also held together by a spring), an assortment of ribs, a smaller, non-poseable hand, a detached lower jaw (smaller in scale), a full sized femur, and a wide assortment of other odds and ends.

The general impression that I have of this product is this: if you're looking for a full-sized skeleton, look elsewhere. But if you're like me and needed to have a character in a film find apparent human remains buried in the earth, then there's no need to shell out more for a full skeleton, because the detached bones serve the illusion of an abandoned body left to the elements.

I will say that the bones are neutral in color, and don't feature any sort of aging effect, but that was to be expected. There are some imperfections left over from the molding process, but nothing that a keen production designer's eye can't address. Also, I have removed the springs from the jaw and hand in order to give it a more natural look.

These certainly aren't for everybody, but if you're working on a project and need a pile of human bones that look convincing at a budget rate, these are probably a good match. They worked for my purposes, at least.

4.0 out of 5 stars study anatomy lab at home October 2, 2013
Verified Purchase
The bone package wasn't the entire skeleton. But most of the needed tubercles ond fossa were present. For the price the skull alone in my opinion was worth it. The top. Portion of the skull was detachable. It also included a exta mandible. The hand bone was very clear, but the foot not as much. Good enough to learn what you need at home for anatomy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleased for what it is November 7, 2013

I'm a physical anthropologist waiting to go back to school, so I thought a cheap assortment would be useful for me during the interim. These models are great for the price. Most are only slightly inconsistent in color. The worst deformities are extra plaster on the seams (which can easily be trimmed and filed down), and some of the longer bones are slightly too curved. I think I got my money's worth. Great assortment too (and not haunted or smelling of cheese):

-Full skull with removable calotte, mandible, and a couple teeth,
-Smaller mandible with some removable teeth
-Some ribs (slightly too curved)
-Femur
-Two hands, one with bones molded together, the other wired
-Molded foot
-Two radii
-Radius and ulna molded together
-Some lower vertebrae
-Three fibulae (fairly curved)
-Os coxa
-Right & left scapulae
-Sacrum
-Clavicle
-Three mini femora (didn't seem like juveniles though)
-Right & left humeri

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! August 12, 2013

These are awesome quality and almost heavy! We bought several of these sets and they look almost real! They will hold up for years to come and the kids had fun playing with them in the sensory table. It's a great way to show the bodies anatomy while being a great teaching piece!
