This review is from: Anatomy of a Conflict: Identity, Knowledge, and Emotion in Old-Growth Forests (Paperback)
I was assigned this book in a graduate level class called Environmental Anthropology. Dr. Satterfield does a wonderful job of breaking down the nuances of culture, of propaganda, in what I've found to be a pretty classic example of conflict within the field.
As an undergrad, the information in this book revealed a lot to me about the ways in which communication and perspective inform all that we do and the way we choose to "fight" our "battles." It has also informed my future academic and career pursuits, as I feel passionate to the cause of conflict resolution. As social scientists trying to "do good work," we must first understand the issue from all angles. This book is necessary. Dr. Satterfield, thank you for writing it.
