4.0 out of 5 stars Mindblowing!!!
This is the first Exhumed disc I purchased. I listened to some clips on amazon and decided to give it a shot. Boy was I happy with my purchase! From start to finish this record picks you up, chews you up and (spits) you out! It's literally insane and a real joy to listen to for fans of extreme metal.
How can I describe this band for those who've never heard of them...

2.0 out of 5 stars The beginning of the end......
This is definitely the album that puts this band on the downward spiral. Remember when bands like Obituary did 2 great album, but then by their 3rd it was clear it was over? This is the case with Exhumed. Basically, this band is now trying to take themselves "serious" as musicians and that's not the point of this style of metal. Also, getting some hyped up...

This is the first Exhumed disc I purchased. I listened to some clips on amazon and decided to give it a shot. Boy was I happy with my purchase! From start to finish this record picks you up, chews you up and (spits) you out! It's literally insane and a real joy to listen to for fans of extreme metal.
How can I describe this band for those who've never heard of them? I would say it's like a punk paced Cannibal Corpse meets an In Flames guitarist with influences of 80's trash metal. Each song has constant switch offs and duets of dirty loud screeches and low death growls. They work off each other really well. The guitar work is also done very well, because it's not just constant riffs or senseless incoherent black metal strums but more a mix of tight thrash guitar and lots of use of twin guitar harmonies, not to mention the ... kicking solo's throughout that'll have you airguitaring in a second.
Upon first listen this record may make you think you've wasted your money on (junk), but give it a few more listens and it'll have you hooked. I really only have a small gripe with this record and that is to say that a few tracks may sound the same during your first listen, and some still do for me. Mostly the middle tracks. The first few are really well, then tracks 5-8 are good but sound too much alike. It picks up again after and really ends with a bang on the last track, probably the best on the record. I must warn those newies though that this is very extreme metal, if you're into metal like Opeth, Metallica, Type O Negative and such and think you've heard extreme, you've heard nothing. So if one day you're sitting around watching bloody movies and saying to yourself, "boy, I wish I had some music that would give me the same feeling I get from watching this bloodbath," go ahead and pick up exhumed's Anatomy is Destiny.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXHUMED WILL KILL YOU, March 5, 2004
This review is from: Anatomy Is Destiny (Audio CD)
These guys definitly know what brutality means. Gore metal has never been one of my favorites but exhumed are definitly a cross between death and gore metal. This album grips you from the beginning and doesn't let go. Once again Neil Kernon has produced an perfect album. My favorite song on the album is probably grotesqueries but pretty much the whole album. Buy this album you will not be dissappointed. I heard live they bring a chainsaw out and one of the guys drinks blood. Of course this will rule. There is not enough good things to say about these guys. Keep supporting Metal.

HOLY MOTHER OF CHOPPED LAMBS!! HAHA the probable words of the all time best "Gore" metal band ever EXHUMED! Yes this album is incredible. Rarely do bands ever seem to get better but exhumed manages to do this greatly in Anatomy Is Destiny. The band has improved greatly on their guitar riffs and also has added a new member, Bud Burke. There also are great sections of "mosh- friendly" music as well that make any listener want to clench the album tightly in their stereo and never stop listening. One of my best investments ever. You can't go wrong with this album.

No this is not the most orginal slab of gore you'll find in 2003, so live with it. Exhumed have just released their newest offering 'Anatomy is Destiny' and it single handedly destroys everything they have done in the past. At least every aspect of their music has gone upwards from their previous releases.

Most notably drawing influences from the Impaled opus 'Mondo Medicale', Exhumed just blow right out the gate with the absolutely killer "Waxwork" and just do not let go the whole way through. The dual vocal tradeoffs work wonders in this genre and really keep the album fresh the whole way through. I suggest more bands try this as it adds much to the enjoyment of the music. Riffs? They are here and they are viscious as ever. Slight melo-death influences can be found in each track but they do nothing except enhance. Production is solid and every instrument can be heard as it should.

There really is no downside to this album, other than the fact that Carcass and Impaled have already nailed this to perfection. Exhumed are close, and maybe with one more release they can deliever something as 5 star worthy as 'Mondo Medicale'. Still, ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED. One of 2003's finest.

5.0 out of 5 stars descibed in one word: AWESOME!, November 19, 2005
This review is from: Anatomy Is Destiny (Audio CD)
Exhumed can be likened to a jam session between Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel (imagine both of them playing at the same time). their music is short (3 to 4 minutes for each song, except for the instrumental) and not-so-sweet.
Fred Durst's Numbah One Fann, I got a bone to pick with you.
first of all, it is unlikely that kids in school are unlikely to get ahold of this disc because it isn't available at Wal-Mart or Kmart. it is very unlikely that this band will cause violence in schools because we have Marilyn Manson (yecch) to thank for that.
second of all, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, KoRn, Trapt, Simple Plan, Blink-182, Linkin Park, and everything else you mentioned is NOT metal. Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, Korn, Trapt, and Linkin Park are nu-metal, Chevelle is hard rock, and Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and Blink-182 are alternative.
do me a favor! either drop dead or go listen to REAL metal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gore Metal + Sonority = Delicious, April 7, 2004

Exhumed have come a long way since their early demos with 5 second tracks like 'Grubs' and other early-90's dopeyness. I didn't keep track of them until I came across Slaughtercult a few years ago, which had some really good songs...but Anatomy is Destiny has some REALLY good songs. Waxwork, Matter of Splatter, Consuming Impulse and Arclight are particuarly b1tchin'. I really dig the sonorous intro/outro...I dunno if it's ~important~ for gore metal bands to mix it up a little like that (Carcass sure did, and it worked well - Necrotocism rules!!), but I hope Exhumed keeps rollin' like that.
Buy all the death metal/gore metal CDs that you can - they need your money!! Seriously, Exhumed didn't even have roadies when I saw them with Cannibal Corpse recently. But Matt is still a rock star at heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Fred Durst's Numbah One Fan" is a moron!, April 25, 2004
This review is from: Anatomy Is Destiny (Audio CD)
Okay, I can't say I own this album, but I will say that I listened to the samples and it kicks monster bootay! However, "Fred Durst's Numbah One Fan" (who gave the album a 1-star review) doesn't know what he is saying. What he said:

Yo hip-hoppa's, whut is going down?? I love heviie medal just like the next punk, but crap like this is just inexcusable!! The lyrics are so violent and filled with hate, they should be locked down for even thinking things like this, much less puttin' it down on a albumm!! Plus the artwork is gross and scary and will inspire violence in our nation's school's!!! The singer sounds like he's mad cuz someone parked at his reserved parking space at Burger Hut when he was awarded employee of da week!! The guitar playa's just play the same fast riff over and over and the drumber just hits the fastest button on his drum machine and lets in loop endlessly!! For good medal, listen to Linkin Park, Staind, Limp Bizkit, KoRn, Puddle Of Mudd, Trapt, Seether, Blink 182, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and the very heavy Chevelle!! Avoid this junk, its so gross!! Peace, I'm out...

Okay, first of all, he can't spell. He spelled heavy, album, because, the, drummer, and metal wrong. He had a few misplaced apostrophes as well. He thinks the drummer plays a machine. He says for good metal, stick with Linkin Park, Staind, Limp Bizkit, KoRn, Puddle Of Mudd, Trapt, Seether, Blink 182, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and the "very heavy" (WTF!!) Chevelle. Okay, none of those bands are metal, and Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Blink 182 aren't even nu-metal! All the nu-metal bands he mentioned are at least decent (except those losers Limp Bizkit), but they aren't metal.

If you like Exhumed, here are some other bands to check out:
Dying Fetus, Nile, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Kataklysm, Morbid Angel, The Forsaken, Krisiun, and much, much more.

Ok heres the deal i may be a death metal newb, but this album is exhumed's best. Believe it or not, that actually means something. The first two albums seemed so cliche and the riffs were somewhat catchy, but on this album exhumed actually show musical talent, as the guitarwork illustrates. The record is gore metal but it seems fresh and exciting, more so than cannibal corpse and morbid angel (BOTH SUCK). Exhumed is stepping in a positive direction, without alienating anyone in their improvement. ODOYLE RULES AND SO DOES "MATTER OF SPLATTER"
