5.0 out of 5 stars Flash Cards Are Great!

2.0 out of 5 stars Error on Muscular System card 122
Overall, these are great flash cards, but so far I have found 4 errors on card 122 of the Muscular System. The errors involve muscles e, f, h, and i. I haven't studied all of the systems yet, so I'm not sure if there are anymore errors to be found. Errors aside, these flash cards are very detailed and helpful when it comes to studying the various systems of anatomy.

I purchased these flash cards (Kaplan Medical) and the Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards for an anatomy class at a local state college. The Kaplan flashcards are organized by systems, such as the skeletal system, muscular system, etc. My anatomy class teaches the topics by systems, so it is easier to use the Kaplan flashcards. The Netter flashcards are more detailed, but are organized by regions of the body, so when studying the different bones, I have to hunt through the deck of the flash cards to find which cards contain bones. Kaplan's organization makes it easier to use, but is less detailed than the Netter flash cards. So I would say the Kaplan flash cards are better for an introductory anatomy class and the Netter flash cards are better for a more advanced class.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great intro card deck, October 4, 2009

I'm working on prerequisites to get into an RN program and before taking the required A&P courses I decided to take an intro level human biology that covers both A&P, just not quite as deeply. I've purchased 5 sets of flashcards and this is the set that best correlates with the information as delivered by my instructor. If it helps - we're using "Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology (9th edition)" by Elaine N Marieb. I have been buddying up with classmates to drill one another using these cards. These cards are conveniently (and nicely) organized by organ systems. They are not hole-punched so cannot readily be put on a ring, but that doesn't detract from these cards. They are on decent weight cardstock. Don't be fooled into thinking they lack comprehensive information due to the set being done on 310 cards. They are densely packed, but not overly so. The information is presented clearly with very detailed colored images. I like these best of the sets I've sampled - these are actually being used!

5.0 out of 5 stars A lot better than the other flash cards, February 12, 2010

I got these after I ordered the Netter Flash Cards. These one's are far superior for beginning Anatomy students. The Netter ones didn't have the anatomical planes, body cavities, and Netter cards are arranged by body part. These ones are arranged by system and the cards include anatomical planes, body cavities, names of body parts, etc. These cards are also half the price of the Netter cards. I wish I would have just ordered these to begin with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice cards sorted by system., November 29, 2009

I did a lot of search and review reading before I finally settled on these cards. The major reason was these card are sorted by body system instead of anatomical region, which in my experience is how most A&P classes are taught (by system). I also really like the fact that instead of just providing a name on the reverse, these cards also provided additional information, such as insertion points for muscles, and what that muscle accomplishes. Example: "The rectus femoris arises on the ilium; it flexes the hip as well as the knee." The cards don't have holes and are not really designed to be put on a ring. However each body system is tabbed and the tabs are staggered in the box, making it very easy to quickly locate an entire body system, and sort the cards after-wards if you have shuffled them.

So far I have found only 1 card with errors (card 122).

1) Labels for Vastus Medialis & Vastus Lateralis are reversed.

2) Labels for Gacilis & Adductor longus are reversed.

All other cards showing these muscles are correctly labeled.

I would recommend these to any A&P student, just make sure to have an understanding of the views and terminology before starting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review Anatomy, August 25, 2010

I'm a visual learner and used to make flash cards whenever possible to better retain important information. I love the fact that Kaplan thought of this and created Anatomy Flashcards. These are extremely helpful and take all the work out of making your own cards. There are a total of 310 flashcards. They are organized by body system and show a detailed colored picture on the front and the name of all the different parts on the back. As a bonus it even includes a stack of coloring cards for those of you who enjoy coloring anatomy parts(not me though). I looked at a couple of different anatomy flashcards but found Kaplan's to be the most visually appealing and best organized. Definitely well worth the investment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great item, February 15, 2009
This review is from: Anatomy Flashcards (Cards)
I think this is a great item for studying. The cards are very high quality stock and full color. The back side contains the names of each associated body part along with a very brief description. I am very pleased with them and have really been able to plow through learning my anatomy and physiology.

4.0 out of 5 stars A "must have" study tool, February 6, 2009

This review is from: Anatomy Flashcards (Cards)
I ordered a number of items to help me with my anatomy and physiology class and this is the only thing I kept. The graphics are professional and clear, the labels are done in such a way that you can test yourself, and the categories are intuitive.

I gave only four stars because card number 113 was missing the colored printing so all the pointers go to blank areas on the "inferior view of the diaphragm" card. All else is awesome.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inadequate for graduate level study, November 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anatomy Flashcards (Cards)
I'm a 1st year pharmacy student and while the price on these cards were great the level of detail was inadequate for what I needed to know. I don't like the organization of the labels. It goes a,b,c in a clockwise direction but oftentimes you want to look at things in the same region that are right next to each other and they will not have sequential letters. I also do not find the drawings that great or accurate for that matter. I've looked at the skeletal system and the nervous system. The nervous system ones depicted a physical connect between neurons at the synapse but that is absolutely incorrect. I just felt like the way some of the drawings were done did not clearly show what was happening. I probably would not buy these again but since they were inexpensive I'm just gonna keep them. I also do not like how in the bones, the picture did not indicate whether a right or left bone was drawn. It was like, here's a bone but we won't tell you how to identify it.

3.0 out of 5 stars alright but not great, September 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anatomy Flashcards (Cards)
I am taking an anatomy class for a nursing program and thought that these cards would cover all the things I need to know but they definitely don't. I'd say I have to add 2 or 3 structures myself to every card, which is sort of annoying when you are trying to learn. The drawings aren't the greatest either--they're is definitely not a lot detail. Maybe I should have gotten the Netter flash cards.
