While I do not posess as good a grasp on poetry as does Victoria, I did find the poems in this book deeply personal and colorful. As mentioned before, Mr. Korenfeld's style lends to a very intruiguing flow. In my opinion, every poem requires a re-read to truly understand its meaning. This also leads to a good "re-read" value on the book. Definitely worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surpassed my expectations!, August 3, 2005

I am always both apprehensive and intrigued by new poets of the modern day. This, however, proves to be an incredibly interesting compilation of poetry providing some insight into this new author. Beside the fact that the poetry itself is quite intriguing, Oleg Korenfeld seems to have a particularly unique grasp on language manipulation which comes out prominently in the very distinct and colorful metaphors that scatter the pages of this book and set him aside from other poets of his day. The author even draws inspiration from the great Vladimir Visotsky, translating some of his work and using some of his great terminology to paint a more vivid perspective of his own abstract views.
I highly recommend reading this refreshingly different poetic verse and sincerely hope to see more of Mr. Korenfeld published in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome. And this is coming from someone that rarely reads poetry., August 7, 2005
This review is from: The Anatomy of Gluttony (Paperback)
Ok, I rarely read poetry so I really won't be able to give a detailed analysis of this book. But I did find this book quite enjoyable. The flow on every poem was impeccable and some of the lines reminded me of lyrics from Oleg's previous band, Tzefa (some of them being direct quotes I believe). That being said, some of the poems could easily fit as lyrics in Swedish Melodic Death Metal \m/, with the amazing metaphors, and while others reminded me of T.S. Elliot with their bleak outlook on society and avoidance of a generic rhyme scheme. That said, this poetry is amazing and one of the few works of poetry that I (a total layman when it comes to poetry) have not fallen asleep whilst reading. Simply amazing. Modern poetry at its finest.
