5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and inspired reading!, February 8, 2009

I read 'Anatomy of an Illness' over twenty years ago and have only skimmed it since. However, I'm reviewing it because i feel like the previous post left a lot to be desired. 'Anatomy of an Illness' will never be 'outdated' because positive energy and humor are crucial to the healing process, and because holistic health will never go out of style. I quote the author: "I have learned never to underestimate the capacity of the human mind and body to regenerate..." It's an easy read. I regularly buy this book for friends and family who have serious health issues. Tonight I'm buying two copies. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Anatomy of an Illness, February 15, 2010
This book is way ahead of its time. The author, Norman Cousins, a leading intellectual figure of his day, healed himself of a very serious illness with laughter and intravenous megadose vitamin C.

It was assumed by the medical profession -- he was a UCLA patient -- be placebo effect on both laughter and intravenous megadose vitamin C. As usual, the medical profession was wrong about both.

William S Eidelman, M.D.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of those I always meant to read., October 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had heard of this for years and several times tried to obtain at the local chain book stores. On the occasions they had one in stock they would pass on to me at the same as would help retire the national debt. I chose this outlet as a reasonable option and found it well worth my while.
