5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for nurses in any stage of their career
I had the opportunity to read this book and feel it is one of the greatest resources out there today for nurses. Whether you are a nurse just graduating and starting out in your career or whether you are a nurse with 25 years of experience, this book can help guide you on how to make difficult career transitions. Ms. Bozell wrote in an easy to read and easy to...

If you have absolutely no knowledge of how to write a resume then maybe this will help you but, gee, I found this very very elementary stuff. Unless you are a nurse with tons of degrees, professional designations, published articles, etc., I can't imagine this helping much. And then if you are such a nurse as I just described, you're not going to have much trouble touting yourself in a clear and concise manner. If you are a plain-vanilla nurse, with lots of hard work to your credit, but no groups of letters behind your name other than RN, this book will be of little help. I was looking for a book that would show me how to incorporate my lengthly business but non-nursing background into my nursing of 6 years to form a cohesive resume. It's not here. The author even says to not put anything on your resume that's not nursing related. This is bad advise in my opinion. If you had another working life before you became a nurse, and there are many of us that didn't come to nursing until our 30's or 40's, then this manual basically says to leave that info out. That's not telling the whole story of who you are or what you've accomplished in your life. This was a waste of money in my opinion. Wish I could get my money back. This book needs an overhaul to reflect real nurses.

I had the opportunity to read this book and feel it is one of the greatest resources out there today for nurses. Whether you are a nurse just graduating and starting out in your career or whether you are a nurse with 25 years of experience, this book can help guide you on how to make difficult career transitions. Ms. Bozell wrote in an easy to read and easy to understand style. Obviously Ms. Bozell's prior experience as a nurse has helped her in her career as a search consultant as well as an author. She is able to give pointers and tips that not just any recruiter would be able to do. She has walked the walk and talked the talk. I think that's what will make this book a success. This book is a necessity to every new grad out there and should be a staple in every nurses home library. Bravo!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars All you need to know about job search but were afraid to ask, December 9, 1999

I have worked most of my 23 years as a nurse in a variety of jobs but all in one geographical area. Now I am moving and needed advice on how to do a long distance job search. Jeanna Bozell's book answered all of my questions and more! I especially found the chapters on how to write a cover letter, the telephone interview, and how to negotiate the salary offer very helpful. The entire book is an easy read with lots of helpful insights on how to put your best foot forward in selling yourself. I feel better prepared to find the right job match and to discuss the job offer.

Finally, a comprehensive resume guide for nurses! Well written and easy to read, with practical, real life scenarios. This book is helpful to nurses at all career stages. It should be integrated into nursing education as core curriculum.

I am a nursing student, and I was hoping for more information on interviewing and finding the "right" kind of hospital. Although it was a very quick read, I did not find this book incredibly useful in my job search as a new grad!!
