About the Author

Bruce Colbert is the Director of the Allied Health Department at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He holds a Master's Degree in Health Education and Administration, has authored four books and written several articles. A popular speaker, he has given over 175 invited lectures and workshops at both the regional and national level. His workshops provide teacher training involving techniques that make the health sciences interesting and relevant to today's students. In addition, he conducts workshops that deal with developing effective critical and creative thinking, stress and time management and study skills.

More About the Author

Bruce Colbert is the Director of Allied Health at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He is a passionate teacher and writer whose main goal is to make the subject material come alive for the students. Having some learning disabilities as a young child forced him to develop creative ways to learn material that he utilizes in his textbooks and DVDs. He may still have some learning disabilities as evidenced by continuing to play competitive basketball after three knee surgeries and now well into his 50's. He feels learning should be engaging, relevant, challenging and even fun. His main writing interests are medically related topics and "softer skills" development such as stress and time management, critical and creative thinking and communication issues.

This book did not live up to expectations. It seemed like half the text was silly metaphors that were completely unnecessary and were inserted to hit a mandatory word count. In addition, I found several occasions when the review questions could not be answered from the text in the corresponding chapter or section. The CD also contained a number of errors, to the point where I gave up using it.
