5.0 out of 5 stars Great Program, COMPATIBLE with Mac OS X Leopard
A Previous Reviewer (who was voted the "most helpful critical review") suggested that this product does not work with Mac OS X Leopard, contrary to what the product claims. This is FALSE, assuming that I am using the same version of the software (A & P Revealed version 2.0 cd-rom). I am running Leopard 10.5.6, and have successfully used this software on my Mac...

1.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT RUN ON MAC OS 10.5
Though the system requirements list "Mac OS 10.3.9 and higher," A&P Revealed 2.0 does not run on the latest version of Mac OS, "Leopard." This is not mentioned anywhere in the listing or packaging, and only hinted at on the McGraw-Hill website. It was only after hours of trouble-shooting, googling, and, finally, contacting McGraw-Hill customer service that I learned about...

This review is from: Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD (CD-ROM)
A Previous Reviewer (who was voted the "most helpful critical review") suggested that this product does not work with Mac OS X Leopard, contrary to what the product claims. This is FALSE, assuming that I am using the same version of the software (A & P Revealed version 2.0 cd-rom). I am running Leopard 10.5.6, and have successfully used this software on my Mac. However, when navigating sections within the program, the program would operate a little slow when switching sections and the disk drive would spin rapidly/loudly, which was somewhat annoying. I solved this by using Mac's built in Disk Utility application to convert the disc to a dmg file, therefore I no longer need to insert the disk to run the software, but can just run it directly from my hard drive. It works excellently now--much smoother than before when the actual disk was in the drive, so I highly recommend this method. As for the program itself, it is GREAT. It really helps visualize structures in 3D and from different anatomical views, has great animations, and the depth of what it covers is excellent. Another thing I find useful is having the software 'speak' various terms and structures, which teaches you correct pronunciations of difficult words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Software, May 5, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD (CD-ROM)
This is a great software package!!! It is hard to stay up on Gross Anatomy without working on cadavers. This allows you to do that without retaking a course. The dissections are very similar to lab work, and the self testing portion of the software is great. The images are very clear and the operation of the different components is very intuitive and easy. This is one of the best Anatomy study guides I have found.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great learning tool, April 3, 2008
This review is from: Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD (CD-ROM)
AP revealed is a serious help. It's a digital dissection of an actual cadaver and it goes thorugh all the layers from skin down to bones. The body and its parts are viewable from all angles and everything is labeled with bullets. This is almost a must have for any AP student. There is a free demo at their website, I bet if you try it, you'll be back to buy it

1.0 out of 5 stars Deceptive, overzealous copy protection, April 14, 2009
This review is from: Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD (CD-ROM)
This CD was required for my A+P class, and was bundled with our textbook at the bookstore.
That said, anyone who bought their textbooks used most likely did NOT get a CD, and have been hunting for a copy to use. McGraw Hill might be happy that their product is in demand, and that the college kids can't figure out how to copy it yet.
There's a reason why: the crazy copy protection on the disk.
The software can easily tell if the disk is fake or not, because it loads proprietary drivers onto your computer without notifying you.
Note: the software isn't even 'installed,' it's literally run off of the CD.

My experience of this came after several days of Vista Blue screening for no obvious reason. When I did some research on the file causing this (acedrv09.sys), I found that it was part of the ProtectDISC technology incorporated into the disk.

After visiting the ProtectDISC website, my options were to 'upgrade the drivers.' This is completely ridiculous. Why should I have to reinstall custom(and deceptive) drivers on my computer for a single, educational CD? Especially when it had already been proven to screw up computers, keep that stuff away from me.

For the record: the CD says it supports Vista, and has absolutely no mention of copy protection or loading driver files onto your computer.

If you're an A+P student, there are plenty of free 3d anatomy model websites (try VisibleBody), that don't force spyware crap onto your computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for the visual learner, June 15, 2008

I lost track of a previous version of this software and was very excited to find this again. The previous version was seperated onto multiple discs and less efficient with crossover between the body systems. This is a good investment for any visual learner who needs to learn or review gross anatomy. There are a number of views and/or animations for most of the subjects. My only criticisms are: a shortage of material for the reproductive systems and the program can require a large amount of system resources.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will not work on OS X 10.6, March 6, 2011
This review is from: Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD (CD-ROM)
There really isn't any information about the product not working with newer versions of OS X. While troubleshooting, I found the complaints here on Amazon. So I'm adding another one. I had to dig out my old PowerBook with 10.4 to use this thing. So here my 24" screen sits so I can use the disc on a 12" PowerBook. Lame.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disc Verification Error, January 21, 2011
This review is from: Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD (CD-ROM)
This CD is required for the anatomy class my daughter is taking and it won't load on her computer nor my computer at work. It has the error "Disc verification error: The disc could not be verified to be a valid original. Please insert the original disc and try again." Now what? I'm sending it back!
