Anatomy of the Sacred,

Great book about some weird stuff. The sacred is usually the work of humans and this book helps us understand why we need to create sacred acts, places, dates, and behaviors. It helps us to understand the history of civilizations, religions, etc.Amazon was precise in predicting the condition and delivery date of the product.

This book is a great buy for anyone curious about learning more about religion. I know it's a textbook, but I bought it to satisfy curiosity. I recommend it.

This review is from: Anatomy of the Sacred: An Introduction to Religion (6th Edition) (Paperback)
This book has a lot of good information. It is a good INTRODUCTION to religion, but it doesn't get too into any of the topics which is good if you just want a broad over view of the main religious issues in society. If you want some detailed information on a particular religion then this book would only be a starting point, after reading it I would suggest it to anyone who just wants to know a little bit more about religion.

My daughter bought this and then re-sold it very quickly so I had only 24 hours to review it, but I was impressed. I have long been a student of this field (a philosophy major 47 years ago) so I love different views and new information, and this books delivers. I think I see a bit of a "prejudice" in that the author may give a bit more validity to religion than I do (I think all religions are products of undisciplined and unrestrained imaginations), but he does a better job than I might at staying fairly neutral. This is not a quick read. But if you want a great jumping off point for further study this would be as good as you might find. The references alone are worth the price of the book.

The condition of this used book was good as was claimed and the delivery time was on the shorter end of the time range that was estimated. Overall, this was a positive experience.

Do You Like Your Brand New Books In One Piece?,

If you like your supposedly brand new books to be unscathed don't buy from textbooksrus. For starters, they slap huge stickers on the outside and inside of the front cover and the title page. Not only does this render them virtually impossible to sell back to anyone but them, on my book it was used to cover up a flaw in the cover. It seems as though they had actually cut a square out of the cover so that I could not remove these large advertisements. I payed the price for a brand new book and what I got was basically spam. I work at a bookstore at my university and I tell everyone never to buy from [...].
