5.0 out of 5 stars EXPOSES MARTHA JEFFERSON-SALLY HEMINGS HALF-SISTER MYTH
An outstanding and well researched expose of the Martha Jefferson-Sally Hemings half-sister myth. The rumors and political slandering of Thomas Jefferson began with early political enemies of Jefferson, some fired from office or denied office due to malfeasance or unsuitability for government office. The notorius scandalmonger reporter, James T. Callender, continued the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Anatomy of a Scandal Good Conclusions, Excellent Researh, but very poorly presented and written
While the Authors did an excellent job of research and gathering their facts and material, they did a very poor job of presenting their facts, conclusions and material. The book is hard to read and follow. It just does not have a good flow to it and jumps from one thing to another one page after another. While the Authors did an excellent job of research and gathering their facts and material, they did a very poor job of presenting their facts, conclusions and material. The book is hard to read and follow. It just does not have a good flow to it and jumps from one thing to another one page after another. They write and hold your attention, then completely jump to another subject in the next paragraph on something completely different, leaving you hanging in the air most of the time. A person has a hard job of following their arguements. The presentation is just very poorly done. I agree with the conclusions. Too bad their material and facts could not have been better presented and well written. I hope some one will write a book on the subject where the facts and material flow in a order that is easy to follow.

This review is from: Anatomy of a Scandal: The Thomas Jefferson & the Sally Story (Paperback)
Callender, continued the "Campaign Lies", (the Tom Woodson charge was exposed by there being NO Jefferson/Woodson DNA match), and these slandering efforts were carried out by Samuel Wetmore in the Madison Hemings interview in Pike Co, Ohio. Many of the statements contained in this interview have been exposed as being very doubtful under close and minute research.

Recent evaluations of these misleading findings of the Jefferson-Hemings DNA Study of 1998 and the resultant sensationalist media coverage, would lead one to believe that Thomas Jefferson is guilty of fathering Hemings children. Nothing could be further from the truth as reported in the Jefferson Scholars Commission Report, a blue ribbon panel of thirteen prominent professors, released April 12, 2001. The Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society has links to the full S.C. report.

The authors have long researched all the material and have personally visited many of the covered sites. There are many excellent references cited and for all who wish to keep current on the Jefferson-Hemings controversy should read this book and also the Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society book, "The Jefferson-Hemings Myth, An American Travesty."

1.0 out of 5 stars DENIAL WON'T CHANGE THE TRUTH, September 23, 2004

DNA doesn't lie people! Accept the fact that Thomas Jefferson fathered at least one child with Sally Hemings (probably most of them). The depth of the racism embedded in white people's psyches amazes me. What else could cause people, even educated "scholars" to deny the truth supported by DNA evidence but racism??? Thomas Jefferson was a human being and like most men of his time, he had sex with a slave and fathered some children. GET OVER IT and stop posting ignorant reviews and publishing books denying the truth.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another author in denial of Jefferson's humanity, May 24, 2008
This review is from: Anatomy of a Scandal: The Thomas Jefferson & the Sally Story (Paperback)
Why do people continue to deny this? As a white person, I am offended by this.

It appears that Rebecca McMurry, Herbert Barger, and the like continue to debate a subject that is no longer debatable. Their over reliance on the testimony of only white family members and their complete dismissal of DNA evidence, and the testimony of black family members indicates their bigotry and racism.

The DNA evidence coupled with the massive circumstantial evidence is clear. Even Master historian David McCullough agrees that Thomas Jefferson very likely fathered some, if not all, of Sally's children.

Come on now, stop perpetuating lies in order to fuel your own agendas gentlemen.

The DNA test concluded that Eston Hemings was a Jefferson. The DNA eliminated the Carrs as suspects. There is no evidence that Sally had any contact at all with any other relatives of Thomas Jefferson on his father's side.

No other relative of Thomas Jefferson was at Monticello during the times of conception despite the claims to the contrary. There is no basis to conclude that anyone other than Thomas Jefferson was their father.
