Two years after graduating from USC, where she earned the Gary Rosenberg Writing Fellowship, Shonda Rhimes sold her first script, Human Seeking Same, to New Line. She followed with a series of films such as Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999), Crossroads (2002) and The Princess Diaries II (2004). In 2005 her show Grey's Anatomy debuted on ABC, as a mid-season replacement. The show has been a success from the beginning, so much so that at the end of the second season ABC decided to give it the coveted Thursday night time-slot, the most competitive night of network television. Rhimes not only created the show, but is a writer and executive producer as well. She has been nominated for numerous awards, and has received two Images Awards, a PGA Award, a Lucy Award, and a Writers Guild Award.
