5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Speed Training
I have read many books and articles on speed training. I am just a parent who was interested in training my high school child to get the most out of his natural born abilities by coaching him with the techniques and strategies learned from these books. Looking back I feel as if I done a pretty good job. He excelled in three sports, football, basketball and track. No, this...

I like the concept here, but found the illustrations to be lacking in comparison to Running Anatomy (Sports Anatomy) and Strength Training Anatomy (Sports Anatomy). I'd recommend those titles over this one based on their superior illustration and content.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Speed Training, April 7, 2011

I have read many books and articles on speed training. I am just a parent who was interested in training my high school child to get the most out of his natural born abilities by coaching him with the techniques and strategies learned from these books. Looking back I feel as if I done a pretty good job. He excelled in three sports, football, basketball and track. No, this book wasn't published when I was coaching my son but I wish it were. This book covers so much relevant speed training info and more. It is comprehensive enough for the average person to create a well designed training routine. As a matter of fact, although my son no longer competes I bought this book for myself. I love it and plan to design training programs for myself. I might be 43 yrs old but I love to train, especially training for speed as it makes a great fitness and health workout for me. GOOD LUCK!

I found this book to be an excellent foundation for speed improvement with strength training and overall fitness.

The illustrations were comprehensive and it has proven results in my sprints and 5K time improvement.

I would have liked to seen more plyometrics, but again this is a good start.

Recommended for all who seek to improve the timing of their run.
