Worth every penny. You learn the correct way & can reproduce it at the gym. It's easy, it's well put together & I take it w/me to the gym.
Every woman should read this before attempting w/o a trainer. It's also nice to show your trainer when he is doing it all wrong, LOL Suzanne

I teach a fitness class for women over 50 and although this is not targeted to that age group specifically, many of the exercises parallel what we teach and passing the book around class and showing the women what muscle groups are being worked has help to motivate our group.

This book really helps me see my body, and work the muscles I need to in the gym. The pictures are great, the instructions clear, and the exercises chosen are safe, fun and effective.
It also helped me get much more out of the services of a professional trainer. I read ahead and knew what I wanted to work on, had practiced the exercises, and knew how they felt. The trainer then could add his broad knowledge and experience to my program. I've had a lot of injuries, and so I needed to be cautious about being pushed. This book helped me have the clarity to ask for what I needed and work out in a way that is safe for me. It's a great supplement to an Anatomy and Physiology class. Why not visualize and feel in your own body what you are learning in class?

I bought this book around the same time that I got a weight lifting system because I wanted to know which exercises would help me work on specific muscles. Through this book, I was able to put together a workout plan where I wasn't losing time with multiple exercises that worked only the same muscles. The visual detail for each exercise is great and I like the information that is provided on how to do the exercise correctly and with 'good form.' This book covers a wide range of exercises, including stretches, exercises using a weight system, exercises using free weights, fitness ball exercises--even some aerobics, swimming, and walking.

I am so glad I bought this book, not only they go over each muscle and function, but proper form which of coarse is very important when lifting weights, I have been doing weight training for over a year now 3-4 + a week and it brought me to curiousity on knowing my muscle and function and this explains it all! I wish I would have referred to this a lot sooner though with all the info this gave out.

The book provides useful tips, variations on exercises and detailed instructions.
The illustrations are clear and detailed, highlighting the targeted muscles for the specific exercise. There's even a step-by-step program suited for your body. I have not used it (I just got mine!) but I will look into it later.

Well written and conceived. Should be read and studied by male and female trainers in their learning and teaching process when working with female clients. Gives insight into why women should be trained differently when it comes to weight and strength training. Highly recommended.

NONONONONONONO,
This review is from: Anatomy For Women For Strength and Fitness Training (Paperback)
This is quite possibly THE worst advice you could prescribe to women. Why should a woman not train the same as a man? She has the same muscle that perform the same functions. Women are not weak and should not be treated as such. I refer you to a fantastic and highly educated author Lou Schuler and his new rules of lifting series. Educate yourselves before jumping to the wrong decisions.
