4.0 out of 5 stars A good debut album that makes way for better work
This debut album by ana voog is often surprising both sonically and lyrically, with the impossible not to memorize word chain lyrics of "Beautiful Accident" to the strange halloween witching hour dance of "Gone", a song seamingly about an entirely passivist unconsiousness. It's a beautiful peice of music to listen to, and at times you can't help but...

4.0 out of 5 stars A good debut album that makes way for better work, December 10, 1998

This review is from: Anavoog.Com (Audio CD)
This debut album by ana voog is often surprising both sonically and lyrically, with the impossible not to memorize word chain lyrics of "Beautiful Accident" to the strange halloween witching hour dance of "Gone", a song seamingly about an entirely passivist unconsiousness. It's a beautiful peice of music to listen to, and at times you can't help but rewind it and play it again, but often the music is sketchy and incoherent. It is good in part, but pieces of some of the songs do not fit as well as should. For a debut album by a solo artist it's sure to have a following anxiously awaiting the next release.

anavoog.com is a masterpiece. Ana's sweet haunting voice and clever lyrics make this CD a must-have. A favorite in the local scene for over a decade as the lead singer of The Blue Up, Ana Voog is an artist whose talents will take her far in the music world. Don't pass up anavoog.com!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ana Voog Needs To Put Out A New Album!, July 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Anavoog.Com (Audio CD)
What happened to her? This album was perfect, flawless!! Mix of pop, dance and electronic, it has a more underground feel to it and I haven't heard anything like it to this day. She sings like an angel and writes like a muse. Standouts include: "Beautiful Accident" which is a clever wordplay game with a thoughtful chorus and one of the best piano pop hooks I've ever heard in a song. "Backwards" is a more laidback song, almost rooted in an R&B/pop groove with inspiring lyrics. "Hollywood" is more pop oriented, a little darker, with lyrics resembling metaphors straight out of poetry. Definately check this one out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful treat, December 29, 1998

I'd been looking for something a little different than the usual fare I hear on the local radio stations. I think I found it in Ana Voog. The music usually has light, but infectious, electronic rythms. The lyrics seem mostly stream of consciousness, but they have some wonderful imagery and are fun to think on. And if you're a fan of sweet voiced signers, then you're in for a wonderful treat with Ana Voog.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy debut album by a true original!, October 26, 1999

While I normally shy away from the "dance/clubrock" crap that's out there, Ana Voog is different. Her intriging lyrics are something to behold. She actually has a great voice and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. The top-of-the-head thoughts on this disc had me thinking of a cross between Yoko Ono and the B-52's. Ana...you can be proud!!
