BETTER THAN IMAGINED!,
By Reviewer (Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anchor Hocking 10-Piece TrueSeal Storage Set (Kitchen)
These are the best food storage containers on the market. Typically, I did a lot of research. They are freezer safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe. The lids seal very, very well and storing one's food in glass just makes good sense. The lids can be lifted slightly for microwave and, of course, the glass doesn't stain with tomato based products, or curry or such.
The best surprise was that the lids have a clear circle in the center of them allowing light into the top of the container. At last! I can SEE perfectly what I have stored because the food shows up so well being lit from above as well as all around! You will probably notice how BAD your other storage might have been. I replaced ALL of my other containers in a one day swoop and am pleased, pleased, pleased at the service and the look that these offer. I feel, well, so up-graded!!!!! These may be a small luxury you give yourself just to avoid all the hassles all of the other storage systems have! Go for it. I don't see how you could regret it!

Do not warranty cracked lids. Poor customer service,

Just purchased a few dishes and some of the lids have cracked right at the edge of the seal. One lid shrunk size. I called Anchor, they did NOT return my phone calls. I emailed them and an automated response directed me to their website. They do NOT warranty the lids, only the glass bowls. Well nothing is going to happen to glass. It will only happen to the lids. The lids cost $1 a piece to replace. I will not by from a company that is not reputable again!!

Like many others I bought these to replace my plastic storage containers. They arrived just fine no cracks or chips. They seal up well and didn't spill any water even when held upside down and shaken. That was my little test for them. So no worries about them leaking in my lunch bag. I also bought the Pyrex 1072164 Storage 18-Piece Round Set. The Pyrex set has just simple plastic lids and I did the same water/shake test with them, they didn't spill a drop either. The Anchor Hocking lids are made from a flexible plastic or rubber and seem to seal up a bit better then the Pyrex. So they may be your choice for longer term storage. Here is the interesting part, the Anchor Hocking and Pyrex bowls are the same size and you can swap the lids if you want. So, if you buy or have one set and you like the lids from the other just order the lids from the manufacturer. Then you can swap at your leisure.

We purchased several sets of glass storage after disposing of our plastic food storage containers (due to BPA concerns). We purchased several brands and these are by far my favorites. The 10-piece set gives you a nice selection of sizes, and from there you can add pieces based on what sizes you use most frequently. The lids are super easy to put on and take off and the glass is super sturdy. We feel so much safer knowing that our food is stored in these rather than Tupperware!

Not water-tight,

I read a bunch of reviews for this series from Anchor before ordering and was very excited to find glass containers that were oven-safe and supposedly had water-tight lids. When they arrived I filled one with water and turned it over. Water came out as it turned. I tried each lid and glass set with the same results. Honestly, if I'd known they weren't water-tight I would have bought one of the much cheaper and equally oven-safe pyrex products.
Pros: great for backing, see-through lids Cons: not water-tight

Just What I Was Looking For,

These containers are fantastic. Lately there are so many glass storage containers on the market, but these are the only ones that WILL NOT LEAK. The lids are wonderful. While Pyrex is less expensive, I bring lunch to work daily and need something leak-proof (Pyrex is secure for the home, but not perfect for my homemade soups to go).
As for GlassLock, their containers are more expensive, the lids are flimsy, and the label says it's not oven-safe! No, thank you. I bought a few of these TrueSeal containers at a big box retailer, but this set on Amazon is at the top of my Christmas list. Love it!

This are really nice. The bowls of very sturdy and we use these now instead of plastic because of chemical leaching concerns. They go from fridge to microware.

I use these mainly to transport chili or soup in my bike panniers when I ride to work. So far, nothing has broken or spilled. I do pad them a bit with a shirt or something, but often store them on their sides. The lids are soft and supple and haven't leaked a bit. The glass is thick, so it would take a good knock to break it. i am sure someday i may break one, but i want to reheat my food in a glass container and not plastic, so I'll take the chance. had them for only about 6 weeks now.
