5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
This Anchor Hocking 2.5 gallon Montana jar is beautiful. Flawless, thick glass and a tight fitting lid makes this the perfect container for everything from sugar to ribbon or anything else you need beautiful storage for! Also would make a great seasonal decoration for the table or mantle by placing decorative items inside the jar. Amazon had the lowest price I found after...

1.0 out of 5 stars glass is great, lid is NOT
The lid does not seem to be constructed with food in mind. I hand washed it according to the directions (yes, hand wash), and it still rusted. Plus there are all these little pieces, crooks and crannies where bacteria can grow. I definitely don't recommend this if you're buying for food storage. If you're putting non edibles, then it's a good looking container. A bit...

This is just what I wanted. It's glass and seals but I wouldn't say it's airtight if that's what your looking for but it does seal up. I use them for various dry foods and it looks nice to store things in. Large size so you can add lots of stuff.

I am very happy with this heavy glass jar. The lid doesn't screw on, there is a plastic ring on the inside of the metal lid that slips over a glass flange at the top of the jar. Not absolutely airtight, but pretty snug. Looks nice too.

Bought this to store our cat food so it doesn't get dried out in the bag. It works well and it looks nice.

Plus there are all these little pieces, crooks and crannies where bacteria can grow. I definitely don't recommend this if you're buying for food storage. If you're putting non edibles, then it's a good looking container. A bit pricey (I paid $42). I found the same 2.5 gallon size but with a glass lid also by Anchor Hocking for $13 at Target.
