Anchor Hocking Oven Basics 4-Piece Oven Set, Crystal Clear

I have had this set since 2006 and only used it a handful of times. Well, this evening our casserole size dish in the set literally exploded after I took it out of the oven! Luckily, we were all across the room at the dinner table. BUT if we had been anywhere near the stove we would have been seriously injured. Glass ALL over the room, and our meal destroyed by this cheap and very dangerous glass set. We will NEVER own any Anchor dishes again!

There are other Anchor Hocking baking sets out there with more pieces for just a little bit more money, but this had the perfect combination of what I really needed. The square and the rectangular treys are perfect for creating a steam bath (for corn cakes, etc), and the casserole dish with the lid is presentable enough for taking to potlucks, etc. Delivery was fast and the box was well packaged. Nothing broken. In fact, my only complaint - too much packaging. I recycled it all, but felt a little bad anyway.

I dont know who is writing these good reviews though they sound like anchor people themselves are writing this. THESE PIECES WILL EXPLODE!!! either in your oven, in your hand or on your counter top DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!

Do not buy any Anchor Hocking products for your safety. Like the other reviewer on here, my casserole dish that says it is oven and microwave safe exploded into tiny pieces in the oven when I was baking a chicken pot pie. And I'm not the only one:

You can also check out their website where they go to great lengths to tell you that any explosions are for your safety.

This company should take some responsibility for these dishes and pull them out of production or do a recall. I'm just glad it didn't explode outside of the oven, or else it would have seriuosly injured me and I would have taken further action besides just bad-mouthing them. Go with Pyrex, they are more expensive, but are reliable.

Bakes and cooks evenly, great for chicken, pork, fish, stews. Love it's convenience it goes easily from the oven to the microwave to the refrig. Also baked a brownie that came out great easy to clean up.

Great Combination of Ovenware for everyday use.
