first thing, people are complaining about the handle, after you assemble it, please use plyers to pinch closed the hook part of the handled where it loops through the ring around the neck. we filled these full with 4lbs of blackberries, 4lbs of sugar AND then drowned it all in vodka, to make blackberry vodka (fill half full with blackberries (any container) weight the blackberries and put in that amount by weight in sugar in it, then add vodka to the top, shake until all sugar is dissolved and cap off with more vodka if needed, shake once a day for a week, then once a week for 3 months, and strain. do NOT go more than 3 months or it will taste woody from the stems in the berries.) we are doing these in 1 gallon size hocking barrel jars
Anyways I got side tracked, but I knew if I didn't put that in there you would ask me.
So the handle is not a concern for me, full with all that weight.
the problem for me is there is no gasket or seal, just a stainless lid, so it leaks. this bums me out, it means it is also not airtight.
pretty, functional, just the lids do not do it justice and if you are going to use it, that matters a lot, otherwise its ornamental.

I want to update this after I use it - I bought the gallon jars for making Kombucha. To me, it looked like this was ONE gallon sized jar, but in fact selecting a quantity of 2 of this item sent me 4 jars! Just fyi. :)

LOVE the jar!! I purchased this to make Sun Tea as the handle would make it easy to carry in and out of the house. But, a HUGE disappointment was the lid!!!!!!!!!!! The paperwork that came with the jar says Made in the USA. The paperwork that came with the lid says Made in China. The two are NOT compatible as the lid will not tighten secure enough that there is no leakage. It tightens only to barely snug, the spins around again. I found a different lid for it that will tighten.

I got this to make sun tea. I'ts a nice, vintage looking jar that doesn't have a leaky spout like my old one. I really liked that it had a handle to make carrying a big/heavy glass jar of liquid. It came quickly but sadly the handle isn't attached. It comes with a small piece of paper that says "Easy to assemble handle instructions" Oh my stars, what a joke!!! It's so bad, and completely useless. I nearly broke the jar trying to get the 2 pieces of wire to connect around the jar. I am couldn't get this connected with an extra set of hands and two pair of pliers.... unreal!!

I'd love to give it more stars but without the handle attached it's kinda not worth the money. Unlike other reviewers, I did not have any problems with the lid fitting. Mine fits fine, even better when I pulled out the paper insert.

It says made in the US but when I got it it says glass made in the US, lid made in China. Is it so hard to get a made in the US lid? I hope the manufacturer will think about preassembling the wire handle.

Difficult to assemble handle and assembly falls apart easily. Lid is incredibly cheap and does not create an air-tight seal, which is what I needed. Who knew a lid could actually be that cheap! At least the jar doesn't leak when upright, hence the two stars, for actually holding liquid.

Even after getting the handle on according to directions, AND pinching it shut with pliers, the
rings snapped off. Pretty jar, but the handle is not well engineered. Junk. The jar will
work to make sun tea, but without the convenience of a handle.

This jar is just the right size but putting the handle on was really a pain! We use it without the handle.
