5.0 out of 5 stars Great bread pan. Glassware is superb for even heating.
This is an excellent bread pan. Glassware heats very evenly, I have other glass bakeware, and a ceramic. Glassware doesn't leach anything to my knowledge, though with bread it's almost a mute point as bread is not really acidic.

I like it for its thermal properties, ease of cleaning, and its food safety.

If you bake, this is it.

2.0 out of 5 stars slanted sides??
Okay, so it's Anchor Hocking...made in the USA forever. You don't have to worry about any impurities, etc, as you might if it were made, say, in China.

BUT! the top dimensions may be 9x5, but the bottom is 7x4! I feel this could seriously affect a yeast bread, which is my reason for this purchase.
The picture shows a straight sided loaf pan. Oddly enough,...

The picture shows a straight sided loaf pan. Oddly enough, the picture that comes attached to these pans shows a straight sided loaf pan.

I'm afraid I'll have to return these in favor of Pyrex, or perhaps stoneware. Such a shame. Two stars for good construction and Anchor Hocking, but the dimensions make these ineligible for me.

Maybe Amazon should correct their picture (or Kitchen Supply?) so people will know about this in advance and have a chance to make an informed decision.

When I used any sort of metal pans, no matter how I adjusted oven temp or what coating or lining I used I continued to have quick breads come out too brown on the outside and often not completely done on the inside. I finally switched to these and am very pleased. Breads come out very evenly baked. I reduce the oven temp by 25 degrees but use approximately the time recommended by the recipes. Spray them first with non-stick spray. Pans bake well and clean up easily.

My bread definitely rose higher and made better loaves in these glass pans as compared to the metal pans I have usually used.

I love this glass loaf dish. It's perfect for both breads and meatloaf. I love the ease of cooking with and cleaning glass. I'm buying a second for all the bread recipes I have that are for 2 loaves.

Makes great loaf pan items.... especially banana bread. You can't go wrong with Anchor Hocking as it is always a great purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality, Wierd Shape, June 6, 2011

This is a good quality glass pan but the sides and ends are so slanted that it makes a strange loaf of bread. Once you lose 10% off the ends, you can cut a straight slice.

Otherwise, no complaints, great quality and heavy duty construction.
