I rarely need a cake plate, so the price of this one was attractive. Unfortunately, the plate surface on mine is not totally flat. As a result, the dome wobbles slightly. This gets very annoying when it is sitting on a table that inevitably gets jostled while people are eating. Also, when the pedestal is inverted for use as a punch bowl, the unevenness of the plate surface (now the base of punch bowl) causes the whole bowl to wobble slightly. It's functional enough that I won't bother replacing it, but I probably would not buy it again.

I ordered this item when it was not available at that time so it took a while for me to get it-but I was impressed at the careful packing and the product itself-very elegant looking cake set and can be used as a punch bowl too-would certainly recommend it for all hosts!

I recieved this cake plate a couple weeks ago. it's very heavy and well made. it came boxed extra well. The box was inside another box surrounded by air bags. There was no way this thing was going to be broken. I am happy with my purchase.

I entertain a lot and needed a piece that would have many uses and this does! I can use it as a regular dish that adds height to my buffet table, as a cake plate, leave on the counter with cookies in it, turn lid over and use as a fruit bowl or punch bowl...anything you can think of. It is very well made - nice and sturdy. I have purchased 3 so far - 1 for me and 2 as gifts. Wonderful addition to my entertaining repertoire...and you can't beat the price.

This is a lovely cake stand and dome, and it comes at a great price from Amazon. The only caveat is that the dome isn't very tall - the photos are deceiving - so it won't hold a multi-layer cake. A single layer works great. Also looks nice for cookies, brownies, or cupcakes.

I love this cake stand. I have thought of getting one for a long time but always thought that the ones in the stores were either too expensive, frilly or cheap looking. I think it would go with any decor except perhaps something extremely understated and elegant. It is a great design, with the punch bowl feature when flipped over. I plan to get another for myself so I can offer cake and punch at the same time, and plan to give this as a gift too. I do find that it is just just big enough for a standard double layer round cake and that you have to put the cover on a bit carefully. It doesn't bother me one bit, but there are visible seams.

My mother purchased this cake plate when I was a teenager and it lasted for over 15 years. I believe she bought at a local store originally and rather liked the dual purpose of a cake stand and the punch bowl. As many of the other reviewers have said, this is not some light flimsy piece of glass. I weighed the plate on my digital scale and it is over 3 pounds.

As a cake stand:
We used it for birthday cakes and the lid does need to be put on carefully (so the frosting doesn't smoosh) and should work just fine for most people. Large or bulky decorations will not fit under the dome, nor will candles. The lid fit well and snugly with the plate and neither wobbled. Its perfect for the intended use, but the ribs on the interior of the dome rather obstruct the view of what is underneath, but the top of the plate is smooth.

As a punch bowl:
We used the punch bow set up every Christmas dinner and sometimes at Thanksgiving. The clear glass is a huge bonus in this respect because the other table decorations can be seen if the punch is clear. One year I put Christmas balls, tinsel, and white lights around the base and the punch was 7up and cranberry juice and it was STUNNING! We never had a problem with it wobbling, in fact it fit together well with the dome handle fitting within the stand of the upside-down cake plate.

My mother was really disappointed when the dome to her set broke because one of my nephews tried to get at his birthday cake (he was not hurt however). I still have the cake plate and I love it. A few months ago my mom found one of the other styles of the Anchor Hocking cake plate sets with a clear dome and bought it for one of my older sisters who has wanted one for many years. I was so thrilled to see multiple styles of this brand here on amazon and hope to be able to get the Presence style for myself soon.

I know my mother would buy this again but does not do the amount of cake decorating or baking that she used to. Thank you Anchor Hocking for making such quality products, it seems to be more rare thing to find anymore.

This is a lovely cake stand. It is nice and heavy, and looks like it is so much more expensive than the price that Amazon is selling it for.

It also has a nice large base to hold your cakes; however, if you're worried about the size, I would say to measure out 11 inches to make sure it is large enough to hold the cakes you will use it for.

I also love that you can invert this and use it as a punch bowl.

All in all, a great piece!

This glass is definitely heavier than I expected...even better. Love the size, it's not huge or "grandma-ish". The only thing I noticed (that makes these seconds) is that there is a small black dot of something...dirt/thred... right in the middle of the plate. It's in the glass and can't be removed. I just make sure that I place muffins, cookies on top of it and no one would ever notice it unless they started inspecting it very, very closely.
I found the same set at BBB for the same price...wish I had known that.

OMG!! I just recieved this item today from UPS and i really didnt expect it to be so beautiful. I have been looking for a cake holder for so long but it seems like the stores stopped selling them. I love this product. I wont be using it as a punch bowl but to hold my baked goods, i couldnt ask for anything better. The pictures dont do it justice. Thank you Amazon.
