The jar I got my wife was exactly what she wanted. The glass on it is very thick, so it should be quite durable. THe lid seals almost too well because t can be a little difficult to get it off. It will work great to keep my daughter from getting cookies when she isn't supposed to.

I use this jar as a bread box since I buy small loaves or a quarter of a big loaf. It does the job wonderfully. Alternatively, it is very good to store some packages of crackers in. I also like its look on my kitchen counter.

I am pleased with the four Anchor storage containers that I purchased. They are air tight, attractive, and have very wide tops to allow for easy access. If you plan to store them on your counter, you need a lot of counter space-they are larger than expected! The 1 1/2 gallon is great for cookies and brown sugar and the 2 gallon is handy for sugar and flour. They arrived safely, but two of the lids had minor chips in the paint. Overall, a handy product.

This a a great jar, very nicely made but I ended up returning it as it was way too large for a daily cookie jar. I purchased the same jar only smaller and it's perfect.

I was really looking for a gallon size jar because I think 1 and 1/2 is a little overkill for a batch of cookies, but I wanted the rubber ring insert to keep cookies fresh, so this was the smallest size I could find on Amazon's or other cooking websites. I wish Anchor Hocking made a 1 gallon Montana jar.
If you want it for flour, it should keep it fresh with the rubber seal, so definitely don't buy the jars with the metal lid without the rubber seal, this would cause metal on glass which would cause glass fragments in your flour from chipping and how would you know once it got in your flour? Yuk. Plus you wouldn't have sealing and you would have noisy clanking everytime you put on the lid.
This is the best for sealing and safety. I just wish A.H. offered smaller sizes in this jar!
One star off for this being the smallest size available!

Item arrived just as advertised and came quickly and all in one piece. I was afraid that the item would arrive broken, but Amazon.com does an amazing job of getting it to you just they way it is described. Looks great in my kitchen.

I was looking for glass cannisters to replace my plastic ones. I bought two of these and use them currently for sugar and flour (I like to bake). They look very nice sitting in my pantry and are easy to use. They also arrived in excellent condition, which I had a worry about since some said their's was broken. We even made the delivery man wait for us to check before he left.

Needed a Jar like this to make my own Limoncello at home. Overall it serves its purpose, but I shoulda gotten the 0.75 Gallon or 1 gallon, which is what I would get next time. Would have liked it better if there was a tighter seal, but it does seal a little bit... just not as air tight as a tupperware would be. I can envision this being air tight enough to store cookies or other foods that are not subject to spoil as easily. The shipper really packed it well so it was not broken when received. I would buy this product again, even for making my Limoncello, but I would most likely get the smaller jar.

This is the second time I have ordered the Anchor Hocking Montana 1-1/2-Gallon Jars with the Red Metal Lids. Love,Love,Love them....it's so nice to have a wide mouth jar that I can put in a 1 cup measuring cup and lift it straight out without any problems and still have room leftover. I have a total of 7 of this size and 2 of the 2 gallon size that I use for other purposes. My 1-1/2 gallon jars I put on my counter to hold my grains and flours. The lids are easy to remove and seal the jars very well...no bugs. The glass jar is a nice thickness. I would highly recommend them!

this is a lot bigger than i thought it would be but it's pretty airtight and very convenient.
