I looked at all the glass pitchers sold on Amazon and decided on this one because I wanted it to fit nicely in the refrigerator door. I also wanted to stay away from glass products made in China due to the potential use of lead in those products. I've been using an old Oberweis glass milk container for years and years and thought I'd try something easier to clean. This pitcher works fine....if you have small hands like mine, you can fit your hand in for cleaning. Some people are commenting on the "thin" glass. Not sure what they are talking about. NO, the glass is not an inch thick nor is it likely to survive a fall onto a ceramic floor. BUT, the glass is plenty heavy duty enough for normal use. At 2 liters, it's also a good size. I use it for tea. It's not tempered glass so be sure to let your tea cool before pouring into this pitcher. The part I think could improve this product is a better lid. As many reviewers have mentioned, the lid is a little bit of a joke. It's not tight fitting, which personally, I don't mind, but it's really cheap feeling and seems like it doesn't really fit the product. I haven't tried pouring with the lid on but I'm sure that'd be a disaster. Overall, I'm happy with the product...happy enough that I bought another when the price dropped to $11.

I like the size of the product however; the lid does not seal. The lid just sits on the top and will easily fall off. I found the exact same product at Target for $5.

As human beings, we've had the luxury of the noble pitcher for a few thousand years now. It's a pretty simple device; you put liquid into it, and later pour that very same liquid out and into another container. It's also fairly complete as far a technology goes. I mean, really, what else is left to improve upon? Unless you are Anchor Hocking. In which case, you have successfully been reversing all of the progress humanity has made in the creation of the pitcher.

Liquids are supposed to pour out of a pitcher, not spill out as it does with the Bistro Glass Pitcher. It's as though this pitcher has just returned all numb from having it's wisdom teeth removed and cannot feel it's liffs.

This Bistro Glass Pitcher pitcher spills when pouring fast and it spills when pouring slow. So you'll need to have a towel ready during the pour in order to clean the pitcher, the counter top, and the floor (or basically whatever is below the pitcher when you pour). You'll also need to clean the little rectangle of sticky goop on the refrigerator shelf that will be left behind from the bottom of the pitcher if you neglect to thoroughly clean it after each pour.

I won't be returning this worthless Bistro Glass Pitcher. The cost of this pitcher is below my financial pain threshold compared with the pain of packing up a glass bottle for safe return, then coupled with the pain of a trip to the post office. Instead I'll toss it in the recycling. Hard. Maybe a more capable manufacturer will be rewarded with the remains of the Anchor Hocking pitcher and actually create something worthwhile.

I will bitterly buy a replacement, and you can be assured it will not come from the thoroughly disappointing and astoundingly design inept Anchor Hocking.

I really like it. I really like that it's made by Anchor in the USA since I have discovered glass containers made in China can contain lead. The Chinese put lead in the glass to be able to heat the glass with lower temperatures thus saving them money on their electric bill... not cool. The lid it not "completely" air tight on this but tight enough. I just keep water in mine so it's no big deal. It's also very easy to hold and pour. Thank you Anchor for this product!

Saw these at Target today and got one. It's the PERFECT size for the fridge and yet holds an adequate amount of drink! I have one of those behemmoth gallon+ plastic pitchers but it's SO inconvenient if you're just simply grabbing a glass of tea so you have to MOVE EVERYTHING to get the massive pitcher that stains and is quite unsightly. I might get another one soon!

as mentioned, the lid is not necessarily air tight and the spout option pours at a trickle so I'd just say take the top off, pour yourself a glass, and replace.

Seem to be a clone of the very similar piece from Luminarc. However, while the Luminarc version has thin glass with an excellent non-reactive, tight-fitting polypropylene stopper, this one has thick glass with an ill-fitting rubber cap. It has an awful rubbery/chemical/plasticizer odor I've never observed before in something intended for food contact...might be ok for the gasket of a diesel engine, not for something holding what I'm ingesting. Even silicone pot holders have practically no odor compared to this thing. If only I could buy the Anchor glass and the Luminarc stopper!
BTW why are these twice what they cost in stores? Is glass really that hard to prepare for shipment?

EDIT to review: upping it to 3 stars from 2. The smell of the stopper washed out after a few rounds in the dishwasher. However, the stopper still is not as good at sealing the top as the rigid polypropylene stopper that comes with the Luminarc version.
