5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice...
I liked these glasses so much....

My mother gave me a set of these glasses a few years ago. As with any glasses, a few have been broken. I was tickled to death when I saw the same glasses offered here at Amazon!

I ordered the 12-set of the 17 oz size, and the 12-set of the smaller tumblers. Now, if a glass breaks, I will still have enough to...

The Anchor Hocking Central Park/Starfire 17-oz Large Tumbler gets a FAIR-rating from this household. They look nice enough for everyday glasses, but they're not as attractive on a table set for company as Anchor Hocking glasses I've had in the past. One glass broke the first time I used it with the ice dispenser. I didn't want to spend $5 and up per glass, which is what...

I'm still shopping for glasses.

These glasses are heavy, well balanced, and they have the most wonderful feel of touch. They feel like satin, satin-glass! Lovely

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Glasses, November 19, 2011

I've had starfire patterned tumblers and juice glasses from Target for years. In recent months the cats and kids have done a number on them, so I was looking for more glasses to match. These tumblers from Anchor Hocking were well wrapped in bubble wrap and arrived intact. They are a little lighter weight than my older set but still feel sturdy. The seams are slightly more prominent, but not significantly so. The pattern is a good match. On a table set with glasses the old and new blend fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars These are very good glasses for entertaining or for everyday use, October 19, 2011
This review is from: Anchor Hocking Central Park/Starfire 17-Ounce Large Tumblers, 12 Pack (Kitchen)
We purchased the Anchor starfire/central park glasses at a Wal-Mart in 2006 and we have been very happy with the glasses ever since. The glasses have one the best designs I have ever seen! We really love the flame-like base and the glass is pretty durable. The base of the glass is pretty thick and the glasses are very sturdy (most of the time they won't fall over if you accidentally bump into one). The only thing I really didn't like about the design were the obvious seams on the side of the glass, but in the redesign the seams are much more discrete. I highly disagree with the comments about these glasses being very fragile and inappropriate for everyday use. While we don't abuse our drinking glasses, I have accidentally put these glasses down pretty hard on a granite counter-top and to my delete nothing happened! Of course, if you knock it over and it falls on a hard surface like tile, they're going to break, but every drinking glass on the market does that, it's glass for goodness sake! Buying glasses on Amazon.com can be tricky because they can get damaged during shipping, but this happened with other sets of glasses that we have bought, so this problem is more likely due to poor shipping or packing techniques than the actual design of the glass. Anyway, my family and I really like these glasses and we picked up another set of 16 (8 {17oz tumblers] and 8 [12 oz glasses]) to use exclusively for entertaining last week. I believe Wal-Mart regularly sells these glasses for around $20-25 for a 16 glass set.

I bought these to replace a number of broken ones we have in our set (my husband is clumsy). They look good, but a couple had a few small flaws. not a big deal though.

2.0 out of 5 stars ARRIVED BROKEN - POORLY PACKED, January 21, 2010

I just requested a return of this product as at least half the glasses arrived broken. The packing is insufficient for glassware. The glasses were in a cardboard glass box, which was placed inside another larger box with very little packing around it.

Also, I would have preferred larger glasses that were not tinted blue. Just bought some different ones at Target to avoid the shipping problem and get more what I was looking for.

I've used the Anchor Hocking Manchester glassware set for the last 10-years (+/-) but I broke down and bought the Hocking Central Park/Starfire after breaking a bunch of the 16-ounce glasses over the years... And all I have to say is NOT A FAN of the Central Park/Starfire! They are noticeably thinner and the seam (yes - there's a seam) practically jumps off the glass and slaps you in the face!

I won't return them (because I'm too lazy to keep searching for freakin' drinking glasses!), but I certainly would NOT use these when I have guests over!
