Product Description

Another season of alien intervention belongs to HISTORY. ANCIENT ALIENS continues to examine 75 million years of the most credible alien evidence here on Earth. Is it possible that intelligent life forms visited Earth thousands of years ago, bringing with them technology that drastically affected the course of history and man's own development? Ancient Aliens launches all-new expeditions to seek out and evaluate this evidence.

The History Channel has found its footing once again with the newest season of Ancient Aliens. While some of the theories remain "out there", these episodes explore many possible connections to alien intervention.

The show itself is first-class when providing historical background and finding similarities between unexplained events throughout Earth's ancient past. However, the conclusions that are made are still speculative and do not always directly link these mysterious events to aliens. All other possibilities seem to be dismissed and we are left with "it was aliens and couldn't have been anything else" as explanations.

The episodes are entertaining and will make anyone with an open mind second-guess the history we were led to believe.

First and foremost, History Channel's "Ancient Aliens" is an entertainment program and if you have an interest in the topic (whether or not you believe it), it can be a fun show. Just look at the episode titles if you are on the fence about how seriously you want to take this as science or history. Aliens really can't be responsible for everything that has ever happened on Earth, can they? Tales of mysterious and unexplained phenomenon, folklore and legend, and intergalactic speculation cross all international boundaries and are an inherent part of ancient history and cultural iconography. And as this documentary series began in its first season, it did a good job acknowledging the various interpretations of alien myths across the globe. However, the more we progress--the theories and/or premises behind the show have become a little thinner, a little more hit or miss. I suppose that was to be expected as the program has already delved into the biggest, most well known, and most supported mysteries in earlier seasons. Thus, later seasons (while always entertaining) have had their equal share of fascinating speculation intertwined with engaging historical insights AND with episodes of eye-rolling lunacy.

And I think that is exactly how I might describe Season Four's new episodes. But let's face the honest truth. If you are shopping for Season Four of "Ancient Aliens," I don't think you need much convincing about whether you like the program or not. For my money, these episodes (although still somewhat hit or miss) have a stronger overall impact than Season Three where some of the topics were pretty funny. The show still has some repetition in principle themes. Here, again, we see focus drawn to the Mayans, the pyramids, to Doomsday, to time travel and to various cover-up theories.

If they use the phrase "....as Ancient Alien Theorists believe..." one more time, I'm going to melt down. The show is, well was, fascinating enough without the continual effort to make it dramatic. In other words, it's become so overdone that it's almost unwatchable. Some of the theorists, such as Georgio Tsoukalos, destroy their credibility by saying that one and only one conclusion can be drawn about a set of data when there are obviously several ways to interpret them. It would be a dynamic show if they would make their case without the huckster showmanship and it would be even better if they would collectively review their conclusions and weed out the ridiculously inconsistent ones before making a fool of themselves by proposing them with no apparent forethought. A good example would be the supposed destruction of Puma Punko by nuclear or high energy holocaust when there is not one shred of presented evidence of even one piece of melted slag on the site. It would seem that the theorist had never seen the results of a nuclear blast, or even an atomic one for that matter.

Historically and anthropologically inaccurate. Complete fabrication to sell books and films. The Maya did not vanish. The calendar didn't indicate the end of the world or the return of astronauts - it was the end of the "long count".

After season 4 they REALLY start reaching....but season 4 has Puma Punko one of the worlds biggest mysteries. We don't know who built it, but this theory is a viable as any out there.

I enjoy watching this show purely for entertainment purposes. Their spectacular leaps of logic are so funny sometimes that I can't help but watch. It's rather addictive. I don't think the science is exactly rigorous, but it's great for provoking the imagination and the "what ifs". I love the show and will definitely keep watching!

There is no way, what so ever, humans could make a TV show like this on their own, impossible. In my opinion, there had to be some kind of extraterrestrial intervention.

The show is definitely entertaining but when it comes to "facts," you better double check their sources. Some biblical references made by the guests were way off so I can only imagine their way off in other areas too.

back on blu ray!
"...and outer space stock footage (and Georgio Tsoukalos' hair) deserves blu ray..." Nicely put Kyle! There's all the justification we need! LOL!

But why can't we get Seasons 2 and 3 re-pressed on Blu-ray? I have the season 1 Blu-ray and held off on 2 on 3 in hope...
