Product Description

Another season of alien intervention belongs to HISTORY. ANCIENT ALIENS continues to examine 75 million years of the most credible alien evidence here on Earth. SEASON 3 explores new directions, including sightings and phenomena from ancient times to the present. From the age of dinosaurs to ancient Egypt, from early cave drawings to continued mass sightings in the U.S., each episode gives historic depth to the questions, speculations, controversies, firsthand accounts and grounded theories surrounding an age-old debate. Did intelligent life forms from outer space visit Earth thousands of years ago? Do they visit us now? HISTORY ignites the inquiry while exploring possible connections between UFO phenomena and information decoded from ancient texts and artifacts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bottom of the Barrel Theories: October 13, 2011
By The Rab
Format:DVD
After season 1, I wondered how much more material could be presented to continue these fascinating episodes. Season 2 was incredible, it gave new life for a fresh and hopefully long-running series. Unfortunately, it seems that the well is running dry as Season 3 lacks the attention-grabbing information. The quality of the material being presented has declined.

The first episode: "Aliens and the Old West" featured too much of the newly released film "Cowboys and Aliens", but did offer some interesting viewpoints. Nearly every episode that followed seemed to re-hash the same subjects of religion, spirituality, gods, and ancient traditions of man.

Many scenes elaborate on the mysteries of our past and speculate in which manner these events are interpreted, but do not offer relative connections between these events and tangible extraterrestrial theory. The show seems to be straying away from solid theories & evidence and is moving more towards superstition, speculation & conspiracy theories.

There are a few highlights of season 3's episodes. Aliens and Ancient Engineers: The unexplainable construction of ancient temples & cities always offers reassurance that our ancestors were influenced by other worldly beings (this subject has already been covered in various past episodes).

Aliens and Evil Places: The mysterious "cauldrons" found in Siberia bring intrigue as to what truly lies beneath the permafrost. These stories are what help make the show great.

Aliens and the Secret Code: Fascinating connections between high energy fields and ancient monuments, locations are too specific to be a coincidence.

The heavy-hitters of the series are found in the first 2 seasons.

I know the History Channel has faced a lot of criticism recently as their viewing schedule has veered away from classic historical content to shows with more entertainment pizzazz. To my mind, "Ancient Aliens" seemed the perfect program to bridge the gap. Tales of mysterious and unexplained phenomenon, folklore and legend, and intergalactic speculation cross all international boundaries and are an inherent part of ancient history and cultural iconography. And as this documentary series began in its first season, it did a good job acknowledging the various interpretations of alien myths across the globe. However, the more we progress--the theories and/or premises behind the show have become a little thinner, a little more hit or miss. I suppose that was to be expected as the program has already delved into the biggest, most well known, and most supported mysteries in earlier seasons. Thus, Season Three (while always entertaining) had its equal share of fascinating speculation intertwined with engaging historical insights AND with episodes of eye-rolling lunacy.

I think that's one of the problems of the show. As it has evolved, it has become less about putting together one big theory and more about episodic nuggets that don't always flow together in a natural way. Among the wackier entries of Season Three's sixteen episodes is the inclusion of Aliens as they might have influenced or been interrelated to other monsters (zombies and vampires, for example). While both zombie and vampire legends have remarkable historical back stories that support their current worldwide interpretations, adding aliens to the mix is just a provocation. Several of the episodes were such a stretch, I laughed more often than I was convinced of anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ancient Aliens October 7, 2011

THis show is a lot of fun! They never represent anything as fact rather they ask questions about our past. Ancient Aliens is a theory that is incredibly interesting. I enjoy it but wouldn't say I believe any of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3rd Season In The Books & Still Impressive. January 20, 2012

It's not everyday you'll see tv shows like this that deliver great visuals from around the world along with some very interesting information. Ancient Aliens has opened up many doorways as to where our origins might be, and it's up to the viewer to either run with these possibilities or not. Most of these famous sites from this series will probably never get fully explained but one thing is for sure, we are not alone. Below, I have provided some imformation of my own for those who are interested.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Lackluster Third Season... November 25, 2011
Format:DVD
Since Ancient Aliens began to air on the History Channel I have been a very devout follower of the show. Season one was a very strong look into the Ancient Astronaut theory and showed that there are other theories out there when it comes to ancient man, and that these theories have their own evidence to support the claims. Season two would bring plenty of meat to the table and provided a wonderful break-down and connection to how aliens may of been influential in our past. It could only get better right...?

Then came season three. I must say I was a bit saddened to see the first episode of the show act as a tease for the "Cowboys and Aliens" movie that was due in theaters around the time of episode one. Still, the episode made some pretty strong points. After that episode, things went downhill fast with only two episodes really worth mentioning. One dealt with "Engineering" in ancient times and the other dealt with "Evil Places". It was nice to see the show go more into detail about these two topics. Both episodes did a good job linking to ancient history and providing good evicence.

Besides those two episodes, Season Three felt very flat and was a big disappointment for me. The material talked about in Season Three, for the most part, was not very interesting and even felt recycled from previous seasons in some parts. To top it off, some episodes did a very poor job linking the material to history. Seasons 1 & 2 did a great job making the material simply blow your mind, most of Season 3's material came across almost boring and far-fetched. Both Season 1 and Season 2 linked the material to form a very clear theory that had plenty of evidence to support it; Season 3 comes across as just a miss-mosh of very weak theories that draw at strings sometimes.
