There are about 40 excellent paintings and sculptures in this book, all on the subject of sex and science. Very mid-century, design oriented dry-brushed style by some very big name Pixar animators including Scott Mores and Lou Romano and ncludes bios of the artists. If you are a fan of this style I would say this book is a must have. I wish there were more art books like this in production.

I am a big time Pixar fan and an amateur artist myself. So it was a no brainer for me to buy this book. I missed out on the earlier (and insanely rare book by the same author titled "The Ancient Book of Myth and War") and didnt want to lose out on this one too. There is a lot of experimentation here. Some beautiful art and overall, a very well done publishing effort. Here is why it gets only three stars from me. It doesn't feel like it is destined for greatness. When you see the reviews for the previous book there is a certain degree of expectation that you approach this with. From that standpoint, I was disappointed. With lower expectations, I would have probably liked the book. The images are small- considering that this is really targeted at a coffee table crowd who like to see large size lush images, the size of the images is a trifle too small. Some of it is a little too abstract but there are some gems to compensate for that.
All in all, interesting but not awe inspiring.
