This is a fabulous CD! It has a good variety, and while being reminicient of George Winston, moves a bit more. If you like relaxing music that is filled with complex peaceful rhythms, you must get this CD!

Whenever I'm stressed out or the pace seems too frantic, I play my Ancient City CD and I'm totally transported to a more tranquil place. If you like George Winston, you've gotta hear this CD.

This CD has got to be the definitive in Japanese new age piano music. There is a distinct mode and sequence that these japanese painists tend to follow, as a similiar scale is apparent throghout most of the album. The recording is done cripsly and follows a certain dramatic Japanese style, compared to american new age piano which is almost certainly based on repetition, the Japanese use sinular melodies and keep the music flowing. A great CD for on the road or just moody moments.

Love this CD. Bought it for a couple of songs and found out the entire CD is wonderful. You won't be disappointed.

This collection of piano performances by Japanese artists is superb and original. The sheer melodies stand all on their on as they are beautifully performed. It is as if they are being played in the Ancient City for the Gods,,, you are seated near them for the performance. There is solitude, there is dignity, discipline and delight in this CD. Musically cross into the lost horizon of the Ancient City and leave everything else behind.

Ancient City (1999) is a solo piano music effort by 5 Japanese musicians. On this recording, the musicians play wonderfully catchy sounding melodies which haunt you with their apparent simplicity. This is an instrumental album for piano lovers period. The Japanese tilt of this production is lovely and makes for a great meditational disc.
