Computing discusses the methods of computation developed in various societies around the world, from prehistoric times to the Roman Empire. Chapters cover counting, number systems, measurement, and their applications. Construction describes buildings and structures and examines materials, methods, and tools of construction. Above-average, full-color photographs of sites and artifacts and reproductions enhance these solid presentations.

Nice pictures --- at least one significant factual error,

I enjoy this serious, because often the illustrations are well chosen.
However, on page 26 the book states that pi is equal to 22/7. Since pi is an _irrational_ number it can not be expressed as the ratio of any two integers. Pi is only approximately equal to 22/7. This is an extremely important mathematical fact, so the error is a disconcerting one.
