3.0 out of 5 stars To Many Pictures
This book had too many pictures and not enough information. It jumped from one topic to another too quickly, and it never really went deep into any topic. This book is ideal for people who just want a brief idea of what life was like in ancient Egypt, but is not very useful for projects or lots of info. It was very boring for me to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars explores how the Ancient Egyptians built their civilizations, June 1, 2011
In addition to informative text, this book offers sections of murals - showing the Egyptians using the very techniques being described.

Much more than mummies, papyrus and pyramid building in this book! Explore agricultural techniques, bread making, wine making, weaving, making charcoal, telling time, woodworking, stone working, bead making, glass making, bronze casting, pottery, boat making, weaponry, perfuming oils - this is great for our summer homeschool unit on Egypt.

If civilization ended, I could probably use this book to irrigate my property and produce a crop, as well as a mud-brick dwelling and some pottery vessels (I live in the desert). It's very good material.

By the way -- this book has instructions for you if you want to mummify some flowers. Takes 2 weeks, and it works!

4.0 out of 5 stars Technologies in the Time of Ancient Egypt, May 13, 2006
A Kid's Review
The book, Technologies in the Time of Ancient Egypt, is not a book to pick up and read for entertainment because it does not have a plot, setting, or characterization and just states strait facts. However, if you are looking for a book that gives you good information on Ancient Egypt, this is defiantly the book for you. This book gives a lot of good facts and shows pictures to go with them. It gives a wide variety of topics and many interesting details.
