I know from our college students that Rome is far better known than Greece. This coloring book is excellent not only for the coloring you can do, but also because it uses primary images and includes some information about the legend, the person, or the original object with each other. The focus isn't on the historical period but really more on the mythological and religous context of Ancient Greece so I wouldn't recommend it as a "history" book. Neither the illustrations or the text creators are given credit so I have to take off one star.

I suppose I thought I was simply buying coloring books to use during the time periods I would be teaching. Was I wrong! Each picture has wonderful information about what each picture is or means, probably where it came from and, possibly, who it is. The book is handsome and well made. The pictures are detailed but not more than my small children can handle. Well worth the buy to accompany your ancient education.

This coloring book presents clear line drawings of art taken from real Ancient Greek artifacts. The art is exciting, both primitive and sophisticated and definitely from another time and place. Each drawing is labeled with information about its source and with information about its content. Excellent for use with a curriculum, not as beneficial as a stand alone, unless the lesson is art, not Ancient Greece.
