Good intro to Gambian traditional music., March 28, 2004

Two of the Gambia's ethnic groups are represented on this album. The Fulani tracks are mid to fast tempo and thick with percussion and feature some raw fiddling and singing. The Mandinka tracks are mostly kora and some balaphone with (female?) chorus---really beautiful and transporting. The bright feeling they give is really nice. I just wish some of the tracks were longer.
