5.0 out of 5 stars Great Coloring!
This is a good informative coloring nook as it describes the different statues of Ancient India. This book has a lot of detail to it and is challenging for me as I have Multiple Slerosis and Fibromyalgia and several other syndromes and disabled. Coloring is a great relaxation and spiritual tool. With these types of coloring books, a person LEARNS as well as having fun...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was very disappointed to receive this coloring book. I purchased it for my first grade son to supplement his ancient history curriculum and was shocked to find that most of the pictures were of nude or topless Indian Goddesses. Of course, this is very inappropriate for a first grade child. There should have been some preview or warning that it contained mature...

This is just an FYI: This is a great coloring book with many Hindu Gods. I am not uptight, but I use the coloring books like this in my classroom as a bonus activity, not often. (It's sad but 7th graders still really like to color.) Some of the pictures show women with very prominent nipples, and some other pictures can be misconstrued. I picked carefully and used white-out for some.

1.0 out of 5 stars Read before you buy, March 28, 2008

This review is from: Ancient India-Color Book (Paperback)
Our fourth grader is studying the country of India for her International Day project. I thought it would be great to use the pictures from the coloring book to decorate her display area. The pictures are very detailed and would work great with colored pencils. The problem is that the majority of the pages contain pictues of the India gods and goddesses that are nude or barely clothed. We were surprised and disappointed as this would not be appropriate for a school project display and presentation. Although it is a part of India's history we weren't comfortable with it and therefore returned the book. I can't think of a setting where this coloring book could be used.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh!, July 27, 2011

I bought this to coincide with our study of the Ancient World. Not for children!! I thought this might show pictures of life in ancient India. The majority of the pictures are very explicit. They deal mostly with Hindu gods and goddesses in various stages of undress. I realize the drawings do accurately portray Hindu religious art--just be aware of the nature of the book before you buy it for your first grader. All I can say is...Yuck!
