I am doing heavy magnesium supplementation right now. I can't take very much magnesium orally because it gives me diarrhea. So I have been using topical magnesium. I have tried many different products and this is the one I like best.

The effect is immediate when you put on this lotion. It penetrates fast and deep with a tingly sensation.

The only thing I don't like is that it leaves a residue on my skin. The residue is such that if my skin gets wet it can be a little sticky. Unfortunately I have found this to be the case with their magnesium oil product as well (which is pure magnesium chloride, no extra lotion products), so the residue seems to be normal for topical magnesium.

I researched each individual ingredient listed on the bottle and it contains no parabens or any other preservatives. A Google search of each ingredient turns up no health warnings, unlike the ingredients in many other lotions. Compare this product to Dr. Shealy's Biogenics Magnesium Lotion (8 oz.) which contains Cyclomethicone (silicone) and Germaben II (a preservative containing various parabens and formaldehyde which is a known carcinogen). This lotion is almost twice the price of Dr. Shealy's Biogenics Magnesium Lotion (8 oz.), but you get what you pay for in terms of ingredients. In addition to magnesium this lotion contains oils of jojoba, olive, coconut, and shea butter.Read more ›

Multiple Sclerosis Spasms and Spasticity Reduced

The most miraculous magnesium to be found is not swallowed, but applied to the skin where ever one has a sore or spasming muscle. The magnesium moves transdermally, right into the place where you need it right now.

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Lotion and Magnesium Oil are stronger than the homemade and very convenient. When my leg starts to spasm rhythmically, I put the Mag Lotion on every place that feels tight, and the spasm eases as the tightness releases. I have multiple sclerosis, so spasm is a daily feature of my life.

When I get a headache, I now put Mag Lotion on my neck and anywhere from the neck up that feels tight. The headache often fades away within a few minutes.

When I have back pain from using my muscles, I also apply Ancient Minerals Magnesium Lotion and it takes care of that, too.

For homemade, Epsom salts are magnesium, so if you can still use a bathtub, take a bath - warm water and a cup or two of Epsom salts added. Soak and enjoy how good you feel. There's another way to get the magnesium absorbed. You can easily make a liquid called magnesium oil or lotion. It's expensive, but it's very cheap if you make your own. (There is no oil in it; magnesium is slippery when wet.)

It takes about 20 minutes for most of the magnesium to be absorbed. After that time, you can wash it off. Apply again as needed, as there doesn't seem to be a maximum amount that's safe, and stopping the spasm and pain is always critical.

One of the Best Lotions

This is one of the more extraordinary lotions so far that I've ever used and I am very picky about lotions. I am an elder woman and my skin has been extra sensitive & dry all of my life. Here is a bit of history of why I am writing this review.

I decided to buy this product because I'd been feeling extra nervous -- a couple of family members recently died -- and I'd been clenching my jaw more. (My jaw clenching or what is known as bruxism, was caused from a misaligned bite after wearing braces.) Just before finding this lotion, I had done some online research and discovered that magnesium not only helps calms the body, it also helps reduce the amount of jaw clenching. So thus the reason I am writing this review. I was and am trying to stop or reduce my own bruxism.

Special Note: I JUST started using this lotion, and I noticed I still continued to clench my teeth. It may be too soon to see if this product helps reduce or stop the clenching. But at least I am experimenting and trying to help reduce this problem eventually somehow. Ultimately, I probably just need to have my jaw bite adjusted by an orthodontist, at a great financial expense to myself and my family. In the meantime, I am enjoying the feeling of this lotion on my skin, whether or not if it helps reduce my bruxism.

All the ingredients not truly healthy but the magnesium works

I originally gave this 5 stars but am changing it to 4. I stopped use and threw the cream away. 4 star because I think the creator of the product is trying to make a healthy cream and they have the respect to answer my review. This product is paraben free. Parabens cause hormone imbalance and other problems. I notice that many toxins that are in skin creams are not in this cream.

The other 5 star reviewer did not do a complete investigation of ingredients. I did research on Google and found the truth about the ingredients;

glyceryl stearate and other ingredients cause; reduce pressure inside the EYE, reduce pressure inside the brain, eye doctors sometimes put a solution that contains glycerol in the eye to reduce fluid in the CORNEA before an eye exam. Eye irritants, other health problems.
See more on Web MD. Checked all ingriedents and many have side effects. Most people won't notice side effects until 1-2 months use and wont connect it with the cream.

Check the ingredients yourself on Web MD and other sites; Purified water, Genuine Zechstein(tm) magnesium chloride (and other naturally occurring trace minerals), organic vegetable glycerin, organic simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, olive squalane, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, organic cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, organic butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, xanthan gum, caprylhydroxamic acid, caprylyl glycol. Some of these are ok, safe but some are listed as not totally healthy.

I practice, teach Natural Eyesight Improvement and warn my students about this.

Businesses should just sell the pure magnisuim with only a plain old coconut oil or cream... base. Why put so many other things in the cream?Read more ›
