The most Realistic and true book on the history & identity of the Assyrian people!,
By
This review is from: Ancient and Modern Assyrians (Paperback)
As an Assyrian, I've made it my personal business and responsibility to know the truth about my people, our history and identity as we are now on the brink of extinction in our natural homeland of Occupied Assyria (Iraq, NW Iran, Syria, SE Turkey). In Iraq, the Assyrians are being eradicated, tortured, murdered and are in a state of modern day exodus out of the heart (N. Iraq) of ancient Assyria.
Anyone who is the slightest bit interested in the Assyrian history, past and current status should get this book. Unfortunately, not enough is being taught about Assyrian history in American Colleges and Universities, and most attention is simply given to the histories of Egypt, Greece and Rome. I know this because I went to College and was amazed at how the history of Mesopotamia is just a few pages long, while the above mentioned histories are chapters in length. I do not understand how Universities & Colleges can simply Skip on he history of the cradle of civilization and move right along to European history, but then again, I do! Any student or non-student studying ancient history Must get this book! The author even had it approved by Finnish Assyriolgist Simo Parpola, and gives references to his findings and statements. Every University in the world should teach a course on Assyrian history using this book! It is everyone's loss if they don't!
