3.0 out of 5 stars There are better documentaries out there April 3, 2013
Verified Purchase
The documentary felt too light on the details, the research and cheaply made. The material felt like it was lifted from another documentary and then rushed to production. Like a copy of two other copies. This is one of the biggest temples in the world, and it was abandoned then overtaken by the jungle.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read a guidebook instead February 10, 2013

Bought this as a way to help my family get ready for a visit to Angkor Wat. My kids became convinced that temples were going to be boring. It contains some interesting facts but they come across slowly during the video; reading a guidebook out loud would be a better use of time. No subtitles available. Leonard Nimoy is the narrator, if that makes a difference to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Overview of the Temples at Angkor August 11, 2013
Lost Spirits of Cambodia is one of numerous documentaries from the Ancient Mysteries series produced by the A and E Network. This video portrays the construction, abandonment, and discovery of the magnificent temples of Angkor in Cambodia. Angkor was the capital of the Khmer Empire between the 800s and 1400s. While we know a fair amount about the purpose of the temples and who built them, we know very little about the material culture of the time. Moreover, a large scale excavation of the area beneath the temples has yet to be completed. The video also hypothesizes the possible reasons why the temples were abandoned hundreds of years ago. Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock in the original series of Star Trek) capably narrates this concise yet informative video.
