Although I am not a historian, I am very interested in ancient history, especially about religions. I borrowed this DVD from a library and it did not meet my expectation. It revealed whereabouts of the lost Ark and most people were looking for it in Jerusalem. Actually, it is in totally unexpected location with fantastic assumptions. I won't reveal it as it will ruin your interests. However, I want to question that if we can go to Mars and other planets in the Space but why can't we go inside of that place to see whether it is the "real" lost Ark. And the keeper of that place should share the Ark of Covenant (if that is a real one) to other people, especially the Jews and Christians, instead of keeping it as a private property. In common sense, any God or Goddess want to share (spread as much as possible of) the good things about the religion so why a group of people kept it as a secret piece even without sharing to its people (in that country)!!

BTW, the quality of this DVD, which was released in 1994 as VHS, is very poor. Although I used Sony Fontopia earphone to boost the sound quality, I heard annoying background noises from the narrator. The voices of historians are clearer and better than the narrator somehow. If you are wondering whether to keep this in your library, check out from library or Blockbuster first. I also recommend "Lost Treasures: Ancient Jerusalem" that has better quality with very interesting computer remodeling of ancient Jerusalem and the temples.

This presentation has nothing going for it...Aside from the narrator quoting long passages directly out of scripture, and a few second-rate experts making bold if otherwise speculative statements, this program says very little about where the ark may be,or what may have happened to it...

If you know nothing about The Lost Ark Of The Covenant, this is a good primer. However, for anyone who has studied the subject much at all, the information here will already be known. Just a rehash of fairly well accepted info, theories, etc. Production values, video and audio quality are pretty good.

In this program we are introduced to the idea of the Ark of the Covenant being kept safe in Ethiopia. The entire program focuses on how the Ark could have been moved from the Temple to Ethiopia and from that perspective it is fascinating. An understanding of cultural significance evolves and a deeper understanding of a culture still focusing on the Ark of the Covenant may be a surprise to many. If you have any interest in researching this topic, then this will be a brief introduction to a fascinating idea of spiritual significance.

This well-produced DVD is an excellent summary of various theories of what happened to the fabled Ark of the Covenant. The theories range from nonexistence to hidden under Jerusalem's Temple Mount in a secret chamber. The DVD is almost entirely about the Ethiopian and Temple Mount theroies. The most interesting aspect is how the 2 theories are merged into a coherent whole. Tantalizing is the fact that there may be 2 Arks, both of which the locations are known but access is prohibited. Both the photography and narration are very good. Bibical scholars provide good commentary. My only criticism is of the reenactments. Most are too "Hollywood" with the actors looking like Caucasians dressed in costumes rather than ancient Isrealites. Especially recommended for those who like Biblical mysteries.

If you have no idea of the Lost Ark then this is a "teaser", but I had all this info back in the 80s

I found this DVD about the Ark of the Covenant very enlightening. Some of the information I had already discovered when doing searches in other areas, but the way the information is presented gives an excellent overview of not only the history, but the possible places where the Ark may be. It gives a very good documentary and is well worth seeing.

The Lost Ark documentary is simply a classic validation of Michael Brenner's book , Short History of the Jews (1964) ,in which he suggested that the lost tribes of Israel are supposed to be spotted anywhere from East Asia to West Africa and South America . By extension , The Lost Ark account connects intimately with Jeff Lieberman's documentary film on Jews of Nigeria (2012) which supports Godwin Akubue's recently published book, Cow Without Tail (2013) showing that the Igbo Jews Nigeria of the tribe of Gad may have entered Nigeria from Ethiopia through Cameroon . Check the UN Green Tree Agreement of 2009 that ceded an oil-rich part of Anglo-Nigeria , Bakassi , to Franco-Cameroon .
For a full picture of how the Diaspora experience began after the Assyrian invasion leading to the fall of the Northern Kingdom of Israel in 722 BCE , let us together read Zechariah 7 :14 : '' I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations , where they were strangers '' . The In-gathering has begun with the fishing out the lost Ark and Beta Jews in remote places of the world . The Lost Ark is an excellent documentary !
