DK's Ancient Rome book is definitely captivating. It's worth the read even if you don't love history. I didn't until I really began to relearn history. I never had a true full history class; so I'm digging up random books on it. DK has a variety of bite sized 'text' on hundreds of topics. You'll love the illustrations, interesting artifacts of Ancient Rome, really see what people wore, did, ate, and acted. It is condesed well written, and worth the buy for your adult shelf or child's shelf. Decent read.

We used this book as a supplement to our homeschool history class. I basically bought it for the photos and it was just what we needed to give the kids a good visual of ancient Rome. I am sure we will refer to it again and again over the next several years. A good one to have on your shelf!

This book is a huge hit in my 6th grade classroom. The graphics grab the students' attention, and the kids actually read the paragraphs to learn about the culture. It's a useful starting point for research reports, but it contains only very high-level information.

This book was perfect as a picture/word complement to a more in depth book on the Roman Empire.
