5.0 out of 5 stars A Valuable, Innovative Resource, January 28, 2007

This review is from: Ancient Rome: From the Early Republic to the Assasination of Julius Caesar (Paperback)
The book gives an impressive amount of information on early Roman society, culture, history and economics. It is a well-organised collection of brief readings from the works of many ancient authors, intended as a supplementary source for students of ancient history.

The organisation of the book is innovative. Instead of the usual long extracts from early writers' works, short passages are grouped under different headings: religion, social issues, economy and the like. It makes for easier reading, which should mean that more of it will actually be read and understood by more students than is usually the case.
