Book Description

February 15, 2002
Join us on a fascinating journey across cultures and through time; from Mesopotamia to India, from China to Egypt to Greece and on to the Americas to discover the ancient roots of human thought concerning health and healing. Over the ages, dealing with illness has been an essential aspect of culture, and people everywhere have come up with unique solutions to this fundamental problem. Drawing upon an intimate relationship with a particular environment, treatments have evolved that range from herbs and foods to acupuncture needles. In this book, remedies that can be quite effective for acute conditions will be examined. You will also explore models of healing that allow the whole person to be treated while addressing the underlying pattern of dis-ease. These energetic systems of medicine are especially appropriate in treating chronic illness, where focusing on the symptom fails to address the deeper cause.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ancient healing wisdom for today, December 14, 2003
This review is from: Ancient Roots, Many Branches (Paperback)
This is a thorough investigation of the origins of healing amongst peoples and cultures from around the world. The author discusses how people have dealt with illness down the ages, by developing treatments offered by their environment. This includes the use of nutritional remedies, herbs and other modalities like acupressure and acupuncture.

One characteristic of these healing techniques is their holistic approach, where the whole person is treated in order to address the patterns that manifest in a particular disease state. Many remedies for acute and chronic conditions are provided. This excellent book bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern medicine, rescuing time-tested treatments from obscurity and applying them to our times.

These ancient techniques are mostly based on the principle of vibrational medicine, just like homeopathy and Dr. Bach's flower remedies. I therefore also recommend Gerber's excellent book Vibrational Medicine for a more thorough scientific analysis of how and why this system works. Ancient Roots, Many Branches is a valuable book for those who wish to take responsibility for their own health.
