I'm not old or even middle aged, but here's a report anyway.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
I started doing the rites when I was 28 solely because they're quick and 'easy.' I still feel that repetitive exercise that goes on longer than 15 minutes -- except walking -- is some kind of evil-self torture. I'm 36. Here it goes:1. I look the same as my mug in pics taken 8 years ago. Better, actually, because my face has more colour. 2. I can easily get into the jeans I wore at University -- half my age -- with the wear at the same hole of my belts to prove it. 3. No grey hair. Not genetics maybe -- my younger brother is half-grey. 4. I can rarely count past fifteen after I get into bed before I crash out. 5. Love food when there is some, but feel zero craving for it otherwise. Much the same with sex. 6. Other people's projections, angst, attempts of manipulation, and 'designer spites' feel as if they pass right through my body, with no 'wall' there to take the hits. They no longer seem 'real' and I can smile/laugh in spite of external circumstances. Point 6 brings me to an experience I want to share. Before I began doing the rites, I had been the sort who lived almost entirely in my head. After doing the rites for a few weeks, my head and face felt heavy all the time. I discovered the 'solution' quite by accident. I chanced upon somebody I knew in a pub and I smiled at her. I suddenly felt the said 'heaviness' moved from my eye sockets into my third-eye chakra, then upwards to the top of my head, and dispersed. It felt as if I got connected to the 'dance' of being as it was. Wonder why sages advise the thinking/serious type to smile a lot more. Let's make constant, sincere smiling the seventh -- if not the most important -- rite!

Great Book, But Book Two is even better!,
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
This is a great book. These exercises have revolutinized my energy level & life! However, Book #2 in this series reiterates most of the same information AND adds in one absolutely crucial element for maximum benefit... the proper breathing techniques that should accompany the movements. I highly recommend Book Two because it covers all the basics plus the crucial breathing!

Can This Book Really Make Me Immortal, Mr. Butler?,
By Bill Butler "Bill Butler" (Tarzana, Ca. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
Yes, Virginia. There IS a Santa Claus. First, the fundamentals. There are five Tibetan rites. The first is just swinging around like an idiot. The second one is where you are just lying down and you raise your legs while touching your chin to you chest. The next rite is where you just arch your back. The fourth is when you position yourself so you look like a table. And the fifth is where you alternate looking like a "V" and and then looking like a cobra. Takes about 5 minutes. Do each 3 times. If you can't do any, don't worry. People who can hardly move are able to do so eventually. Add 1 repitition a week and build up to 21 repitions. This can take as little as 10 to 20 minutes. And that's it! How does it work? I've studied a little yoga so here we go. At the very tailbone of your spine is the muludhara chakra. This is where the kundalini rests. To make it simple, almost all your energy resides in the bottom of your spine. Now think of your Mother-in-Law or the presidential candidates. The shock of this thought will cause your spine to compress. Actually, what is happening in yoga is that your conciousness is now residing in the bottom of your spine. This "stress response" can eventually cause you to become "humped over". There is very little energy now in the upper spine. The energy level is normally supposed to go UP the spine. But because of the way people live and think, most people live in the lumbar part of the spine during their whole lives. In an unconcious state. This is why dugs and alcohol work. They send this energy to the higher regions of the spine. Unfortanately, this is considered dangerous because it is done violently. Now eventually, the chakras above the lumbar spine almost turn off. Now if you were to stretch the spine, wouldn't this release some energy UP the spine to the higher centers? If you moved the spine up and down, would this not release even more energy? This is what the 5 rites do. And they were designed for this purpose. They normalize the energy in the body. When the body is normalized, the vital organs return to normal. And rejuvenation happens. Simply because these centers of the spine are being "watered" for the first time in 20 years or whatever. Perhaps that's why yogis refer to the centers in the spine as lotuses. We need to keep them open. Now two more things. "The Ancient Secret Fountain of Youth Book 2" has medical advice on using each rite. Why not just play it safe and buy this book as well? Finally, if you burst out in anger daily, buy "Feel the Fear and Do IT Anyway" by Susan Jeffers. If you are subject to anxiety attacks, anger, depression - these rites will help greatly. But whenever you think a horrible thought, the conciousness in your spine will have a tendency to go to the bottom of the spine. Buy the book I mentioned above and pump some "positive ions" into your brain to avoid this. But no matter what, the rites will even help demolish your negative attitudes. Why? Because you are "gushing energy" higher up the spine and nourishing the higher nerve centers. This makes it easier to think positively. In fact, the 5 rites are a good way to start to feel "happy" again. For those of you who want to go farther, please buy "The Ancient Secret Fountain of Youth Cookbook." Also the video on the 5 rites. And "the Five Tibetans". Okay. You're all set with the first three books I mentioned. I'll see you in 200 years!

Ok, I have to weigh in on this topic now...,
By
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
...I have seen the recent negative reviews where people have performed the Five Rites as explained in the book, 21 reps a day, and have experienced NO results. I find that unbelievable. My only question would be "how" are they doing the Five Rites? The author/Col. Bradford is adamant about doing the rites completely "to form" and adhering to every aspect as written in the book.
There is breathing to attend to; physical form with the actual rites movements; and ensuring that the head does indeed go back and forth correctly with each exercise, among many others. It would be my suggestion to those folks who have experienced nothing so far, that they look into "how" they are actually performing the rites. I say this because, after five months of doing the five rites (and I am only able to do up to 10 reps of each so far, they are so intense to do!), I have lost 20 POUNDS, and my energy and fitness level has NEVER BEEN BETTER! I have tried many, many exercise routines and eating programs, but I will be doing the five rites for LIFE! I wish I DID have a "before and after" picture for those who are skeptical! All I can say is that I am constantly having co-workers ask me what I have been doing lately, because I look so much better! I also have not been sick since I started the Five Rites. This way of living involves so much more than just exercise...it balances all of your internal systems (hormonal, metabollic, etc.), that is how it works so completely. I had female hormone problems prior to doing the Five Rites, and now I have NO problems in that area (and I am in the middle of peri-menopause). Well, I just had to provide my two cents, and to say that this WOL (way of living) is superb, and very satisfying. I feel fit from the inside out, and that is how it should be! Thanks for listening.

Lay your skepticism aside,
By Rob C (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
January 27, 2001 I first heard about The Ancient Secret Of The Fountain Of Youth in 1997. I found a copy of the book at a friend's home later that year. After reading it I was skeptical but I decided to give it a try. I committed to doing the exercize for three months, hoping that would be long enough to feel any benefits. Within a few weeks I felt an increase in my energy. If I didn't do the five rites for a few days I could feel the difference. I am now 47 and I've been doing the rites for three years. It's the only exercise that I've ever done consistently. My energy level is better now than five years ago. I have good flexibility and I seldom feel any soreness no matter what physical activity I engage in. I've had back problems in the past but not anymore. Most people think I'm in my early thirties. I do the rites every morning before breakfast. I may skip a day once every two weeks. I don't know how but it works! My advice is this: Lay your skepticism aside and try it for two or three months, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Impressions from a health practioner!,

This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
I purchased this book and began the exercises about four weeks ago. I am up to twelve repetition on each of the five rites.I am overweight but otherwise in good health. I work out with weights and do aerobics and stretches at least three to four days a week and have done so for years. I was a bit skeptical about the claims made in this little book, but a few days after I started to do the rites I noted that my urine turned very dark and smelled bad. I noticed a burning sensation with each urination. I had not finished reading the entire book and did not relate these symptoms to the exercises. Then much to my surprise when I read the last section of the book it stated that these symptoms can occur as the body detoxifies. I was astonished. I feel a little light headed at times from the spinning so I'm going to slow the rate that I spin around down for a time. I do feel like I am already sleeping better and have increased energy levels as evidenced by the increase in my daily productivity both at home and the clinic. I am excited to see what will happen in two or three months from now. I do not know much about yoga or Indian healing arts, but I certainly feel I on to something. I will keep you updated. Tano E. A very valuable and enjoyable book,

Thought it was time to give my two cents to Fountain of Youth and the Five Tibetans.
I've been doing the Five Tibetans, on and off, and out of sequence, for a few months now. I do yoga and dance and spend a lot of time walking my dogs so I only do them when I have the time and energy. I also -shamefully- don't do the correct number of repetitions (I spin 21 times and the others I do as many reps that feel "right"). Still, doing the Tibetans in this unorganized way (which I don't advocate), gives me many positive benefits. I often wonder what would happen if I did them the correct way, regularly and in sequence (as the books teaches) and working up to 21 reps a day. Maybe my near-sightedness would improve! Maybe MIRACLES would happen. On the days I do them I simply feel an obvious change in my well-being and energy. One day after doing them, I felt so much more charisma. I was noticed more, it was like I had more "spark". I noticed my posture was taller and stronger. I also often feel a heat in my neck area and down my spine. I figure this is the Chakra energy being opened. I also have noticed that on the days I do them, I don't feel the need for any caffeine to get me going as the rites have already done that. It's really amazing! Today when I did them, it was a cloudy grey day. I didn't sleep very well and did not wake up refreshed but once I got myself to do the Five Tibetans (I didn't FEEL like it when I started, but I did them anyway), not only did I no longer feel sleep deprived, but I actually felt good. I do admit, however, to doing a couple of other Seamm Jasani exercises (see other books recommended) with the Five Tibetans. I have to give credit to where credit it due! This change happened within one half hour of time. These exercises are special. I think this is a gem of a book with very valuable information. I also agree (as the books suggests) that a natural foods plant-based diet and food combining is the way to go. All of these ideas are key in your physical well being and happiness. I've been following this kind of diet for years and it has served me well. Put the diet together with the Five Tibetans and you get a recipe for exceptional well-being. But don't be like me and do them half-hazardly...do them everyday, even if it's only a little bit. You are sure to reap rewards. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and the ideas within it. So many are suffering ill health before their time. Don't be one of these people! Be different. Do the Five Tibetans. Eat a plant based diet. Don't overeat. Take supplements and you will be the envy of your peers and show others how they can have vibrant health into their golden years, too. Peace.

Believe the hype,
By Mark (Milwaukee WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
Someone on these reviews said, don't believe the hype. I'm telling you that this book works. This is what happened when I started the rites: After a few days, I noticed a rush of energy. Then I started feeling strong. Within a week and a half, I noticed that my pants were getting loose around the waist, partially due to the fact that my craving for sugar and fats was dissappearing. Then I noticed that color was returning to my face after 3 weeks. After a month month and a half, wrinkes were less noticable? Then I noticed that my hair was coming in dark at the roots. Amazing. I am going to stay with these rites. One other thing. The book is advertised at "5 Tibetian Rites", but there is a 6th rite, possibly the most important that caps off all the other ones.......

not just body, but lifestyle changes!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth (Hardcover)
I am 36 years old. I have been doing the five rites for almost two months. This is the second time I have undertaken the rites. The first time was last spring, and I started with too many reps (5-7 in the first week) too fast and became really sick with a terrible wet cough and a killer sinus headache (my first ever) that left me unable to even sit up or tolerate light. I quit the rites at that time and only resumed them several months later. I started out very slowly this time, both because of my last experience and because my body is quite prone to aches and pains (chronic fatigue/fibro). So I did one rep of each exercise for a week and then started increasing the number by one every two weeks. I'm now up to five reps and have noticed quite a few changes in myself. One of the most interesting to me was completely unexpected: I have lost complete interest in watching tv. This is astounding because I am a tv-aholic and have struggled to watch less. Now, I feel indiference to whatever is on. I would rather read or DO something. My energy level is much higher, as well, and I find myself taking on and finishing projects that normally would have languished half-completed. Another interesting change is my posture. I have always had very rounded shoulders (scoliosis, etc.) and without trying to, my posture has become increasingly erect. One cautionary note: the third position (camel--arching backward on knees) had always made me feel somewhat lightheaded. A few weeks ago I actually lost consciousness for a second and hit my nose on the floor! I believe that the vagus nerve (running up the front of the torso) may have been responsible for this reaction (stimulating this nerve causes the heart to slow and blood vessels to dialate: a recipe for fainting). Needless to say, I am much more careful now as I do this exercise (and keep a pillow in front of me!). I was quite shaken by the nose-thing, but felt unwilling to stop doing the exercises because I have been feeling so much better. This is unusual for me, because I am very resistant to exercise and would normally give up on a regiment at the slightest setback. Oh, also my mood is improved. (Interestingly, stimulating the vagus nerve is a new treatment for depression--only an electrode is used instead of exercises.) In general, I feel looser and stronger in my muscles. I notice that my body is getting toned from even the small number of reps I am doing. Anyway, these improvements have been dramatic, but did not show up in the first weeks. It was only after 4-5 weeks that I really started to notice something was happening. Don't give up too quickly on these rites. I think there's really something fantastic about them! One last thing: I am wondering what people's experience has been of the sixth rite (which I am not doing). The book cautions not to do this one unless you are practicing celibacy. The book "The Five Tibetans" is more lax: the author does not take the position that you have to be celibate. I am too scared to do the sixth one without really finding out whether other people are doing it with no harmful effect despite not being celibate. Wondering if there's anyone out there who can respond to this...

The Book You Have Been Searching for,

I consider myself very fortunate to have come across this wonderful book, "The Fountain of Youth." I am 71 years old but lead a fairly active life and this was just what I had been searching for for a long time. Doubtless, I lost no time in commencing on the "Rites" and am now in the third week. I am already feeling significantly younger and healthier, and also the people around me have noticed the sudden change in me and commented on it. I have since passed on the "secret" to many of my friends and relatives and am awaiting their responses. Thank you for bringing this "message" to the world.
