For the cleansing of nasal passages according to the traditional practice of NETI. Clear the nostrils to free breathing. Remove excess mucous. Reduces pollen or allergens in nasal passages. Heavy-duty construction - dishwasher safe. Crafted from sturdy, lead-free ceramic and coated with food-grade sealant glaze. The practice of nasal irrigation, known as Neti, has been used by practitioners of Yoga and Ayurveda in India for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Neti is one of the six purification techniques undertaken prior to the practice of yoga texts known as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Gheranda Samhita. Some yoga teachers consider it valuable in cleansing the energy channels and balancing the right and left hemispheres to create radiant, energetic health and wellness, which is the foundation upon which true yoga practice can come to fruition. Ancient Secrets Nasal Cleansing Pot is the ideal answer for cleansing nasal passages. This gentle and effective technique of nasal irritation is widely recommended by health practitioners worldwide as a wonderful way to improve your overall feeling of well-being and maintain radiant, vibrant health. Many people practice Neti on a daily basis to keep their sinuses clean and improve their ability to breathe freely. Most find it a soothing and pleasant practice once they try it. If you are one of the many people who find that your nasal passages are blocked as a result of the effects of pollution, dust, pollen and other irritants, you may find this simple cleansing technique of invaluable benefit to you. Note: This information and the Nasal Cleansing Pot are not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease and these statements have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. I don't share the previous reviewer's buying experience because I purchased this product at a local store.

This is my first neti pot and I enjoy it, especially when I'm congested. It took a time or two learn how to use it properly. You need to tilt your head properly to prevent the water from pouring down your throat and out of your mouth and also to make use pain free. The pot also needs to be warmed up first, which is done simply by running warm water through it before use. Otherwise, you'll find that you've got cold water going through your nose despite putting in warm water at the tap. Make sure that you add a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt and use warm water. It makes use more comfortable.

The neti pot does not work well when your sinuses are totally blocked. I usually pop a few Sudafed PE tablets, wait for a bit of decongestion to occure, and then neti. You'll be surprised what comes out of your nose! I only have to do this when I have a cold. Otherwise, I use it daily and my sinuses stay clean and clear.

I was very septical at first. I saw the Neti Pot for the first time on the Oprah Winfrey show. I have seasonal allergies that I developed as an adult. After many tests I learned I was allergic to all things environmental. Certain trees, grass, mold, dust, pollen, perfum, etc. I've used Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, Benadryl, etc. And all have had some side effects, the most important one on my wallet

I've found that I have gotten natural relief through the daily cleaning out my sinuses. And it feels great not to need a pill to breathe. Who knew cleaning my nose with warm water and a little salt was the solution. The drug companies know and would rather us use their products than this inexpensive natural way.

I recommend this to anyone suffering from allergies. It is odd at first, but you'll get used to it and your body will thank you.

This little Godsend is ideal for nasal irrigation. I first became aware of it on May 22, 2007 when Dr. Oz had a guest do a demonstration with the Neti Pot on the Oprah! show. When I saw what it was capable of doing, I went out and bought one that same evening. This product is ideal for relieving sinus pressure/sinusitis; allergic rhinitis and any other reason for nasal blockage.

The Neti Pot is simple to use. You fill it with 1 cup of lukewarm water; a 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized salt and stir until the salt dissolves. You then fill the freshly washed pot. Insert the spout into one nostril with your head tilted to one side. You will be amazed at the amount of nasal drainage.

You refill the pot and repeat the process on the other side. Be sure to wash your pot out after each usage. I love my Neti Pot and cannot imagine how I managed without it.

WHY I USE IT: I discovered the benefits of using a neti pot several years ago. First, the director of a play I was in recommended it for me, but I thought it sounded weird! A couple years later, I had a friend that used hers once per day and, after years of suffering with "allergies," sinus infections, and "colds," I was desperate to try something other than medicine, which never worked and made me feel icky. I tried it and have been cured ever since. Every once in awhile I stop using it because I get lazy and cocky (I should use it AT LEAST once every two weeks, preferably once per week) and then I get a sinus infection again, reminding me how awful it is! It feel great to use it, like a fresh feeling, but sometimes I forget, especially before I go to sleep.

WHY I LIKE THIS ONE: I have used this and the Himalayan one and have known friends with multiple designs of neti pots. I don't spill any water out of the top with this one. Also, the handle is comfortable to handle when I use, clean, and store it. The ceramic material is durable. This design is easily approachable for the new user.

HOW TO USE IT (you should really follow the instructions provided with the neti pot): To use a neti pot, you need to fill it with water and salt. The amount of salt will differ with neti pots, but is usually around 1/4 tsp. of non-iodized granulated salt (I never measure anymore). Lean over a sink and tilt your head to one side (not like you are looking down, but as though you are stretching your neck on one side) and insert the spout into the nostril closest to the ceiling (if you tilt your left side to your left shoulder, hold the pot in your right hand and insert into right nostril).

I saw this on Oprah, although I had heard about them before, it sounded gross.
But once I saw it, it didn't look that bad. So, my first sinus infection, I ran to the health food store to buy one. I normally drink a vinegar and honey solution (2tbs vinegar, 1 tbs honey) in a glass of water (it works like guaifensin) to thin the mucus and I don't need a neti pot. This time the sinus infection was bad. I blew my nose so much that the outside of my nose was irritated, because my mucus was too thick to come out. The neti pot saved me. I could not believe that it would bring out more green mucus at the end, even though I could not previously blow my nose and get anything else out. And this was the plug that normally stays there and keeps the infection going strong. Once I did this, I could breathe!!!
This is an amazing product! My 11 yr old daughter who constantly complains of a headache, tried it too, and says her headache is gone.
If it doesn't work for you, you are doing something wrong. Keep trying. I think it's more effective if the water is warm enough but not too much so that it is uncomfortable.
