1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
This is a re-hash of stuff you can read anywhere on the internet. There are some pressure points on your face she goes over briefly, but it's more a book about 'inner beauty' so it's misleading, in my opinion. She covers basic things like 'get enough sleep,' and 'eat right' (duh.) I'm really sorry I spent money on this book and I very quickly gave it to a used book store.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome addition to Alternative Medicine reference collections, June 8, 2007
This review is from: Ancient Secrets of Facial Rejuvenation: A Holistic, Nonsurgical Approach to Youth and Well-Being (Paperback)
Drawing upon her more than thirty years of experience and expertise, "Ancient Secrets Of Facial Rejuvenation: A Holistic, Nonsurgical Approach to Youth & Well-Being" by Victoria J. Mogilner (a certified acupuncturist, Chinese medicine practitioner, aesthetician, and tai chi instructor) presents a holistic alternative to caring for the skin without the use of chemical and surgical procedures. Advocating the use of facial acupuncture to counteract the signs of aging and which takes only a few minutes each day in the form of an 'Acupuncture Facelift' process that involves lightly pressing certain points on the face, "Ancient Secrets Of Facial Rejuvenation" also features strategies for attaining outer beauty and inner beauty through health nutrition, essential oils and aromatherapy, tai chi, qigong, and self-massage. A welcome addition to Alternative Medicine reference collections, "Ancient Secrets Of Facial Rejuvenation" is especially recommended reading for anyone concerned with rejuvenating their facial skin without resorting to plastic surgery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simplistic, yet informative. I recommend, February 8, 2008
The author does a wonderful job at covering a lot of topics holistically yet simplistically with detailed information on the subjects. It's a quick read, sensible and I especially liked the chapter where she speaks of eating for the seasons. Also, the book gave me an opportunity to look at my face and study the damages that my cellular body may be going through. Though I wish she elaborated on that particular chapter I was more than happy to have purchased the book. Since then I've look into a few other ancient Chinese and Japanese, and also Indian forms of reflexology... The whole concept of eating simply to live simply is...Perfect! Keeps us humble, full and energetic.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Gem, March 10, 2007

This review is from: Ancient Secrets of Facial Rejuvenation: A Holistic, Nonsurgical Approach to Youth and Well-Being (Paperback)
As an esthetician and holistic health practitioner, I am always seeking knowledge which will be of benefit to myself and my clients. I believe that I have found a real gem.

The author's extensive experience, coupled with a gift for written communication, has yielded a surprisingly comprehensive reference. Do not be fooled by the book's smaller format. It is packed with truly valuable and usable information.

Thank you, Victoria Mogilner, for creating this little treasure!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Book on Facial Acupressure, February 24, 2011

This review is from: Ancient Secrets of Facial Rejuvenation: A Holistic, Nonsurgical Approach to Youth and Well-Being (Paperback)
Learn the acupressure points of the face in an easy to follow manual.
I find the traditional acupressure point routine relaxing and firming to the facial tissue.

3.0 out of 5 stars No Secrets, January 16, 2011
This review is from: Ancient Secrets of Facial Rejuvenation: A Holistic, Nonsurgical Approach to Youth and Well-Being (Paperback)
All this information is available in other books and online plus in numerous magazine articles. But, the author does a good job of assembling and distilling information about using food, teas, and herbs to improve skin conditions; plus, basic accupuncture to stimulate glands and reduce stress. The best part of the book is the illustrated step-by-step acupressure facelift. But, don't expect miracles: the alleged secrets simply reduce stress and stimulate vital glands.

Also, included is a 12-page glossary of essential oils and herbs. You can find this information elsewhere but this is a a guick and easy guide. Most of the other information is constantly touted in fitness and health magazines: stay hyrated; avoid drugs and alcohol; avoid fried foods; get plenty of sleep; exercise; etc.

The author is highly qualified and is a certified accupuncturist, chinese medicine practitioner and tai chi instructor who has been working as such for more than 30 years; and, she owns the East/West Rejuvenation Center in Scottsdale, AZ. The title is misleading but this is a simple and concise guide and great to keep at work or while traveling. But, it will not replace BOTOX or DYSPORT if you need to eliminate or reduce deep wrinkles and lines nor will it replace JUVIDERM and RESTYLANE for deep furrows or indentations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, December 17, 2009

Its been on my shelf for a couple years and I finally pulled it out and had I read it sooner it would've saved me some stress. A great way to start your day. You find out how much medicine your own body has if you know where to go and what to touch. I was going to buy St. John's Wort but I don't need it now.
