The Origins of the Masoretic Chronology,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ancient Seder Olam (Paperback)
The Masoretic Text has remarkable divergences with the Septuagint in the chronologies of Genesis 5 & 11. To account for these differences, you must consider the impact the Pharisee treatise Sedar Olam Rabba had on the Jewish communities circa post destruction of the Temple, 70 AD. The Sedar became the official pharisee doctrine in regard to chronological dates, and it affected the Masoretes in their transcription of the ancient Hebrew text. Justin Martyr claimed that the pharisee-Masoretes had started to alter the text in his day (circa 120-160 AD). All Christians should be aware that the Hebrew manuscripts were altered and our modern bibles identify with this alteration. Only the Septuagint text is free from these scribal changes. The Septuagint has a host of erroneous challenges thrown at it to hide the fact that the alterations originated with the Jews in the Masoretic. The Septuagint was the text used by Jesus and the Apostles 93% of the time in New Testament quotations (See Grant), and it is only the Jews and the faulty traditions that the church has adopted that has argued against the Septuagint as the only authorised version. stefcui07@live.com.au
