Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

YA-- Beautiful full-color photographs of pictographs and petroglyphs encourage understanding and admiration for the Anasazi, Hohokam, Mogollon, and others who built and decorated the dwellings herein, and whose remains still stand. The brief, clearly worded text describes the architecture, history, farming, religion, animal life, migrations, community life, and the harmony that existed among these cultures. The book is perfect for browsing enjoyment, and as an addition to prehistory materials.

4.0 out of 5 stars Touring the Ancient Southwest USA, June 10, 2001

This review is from: Ancient Walls: Indian Ruins of the Southwest (Paperback)
This is a beautiful pictoral journal of the ancient Native American sites of the Southwestern United States. The pictures and the text are both interesting and informative. If you have lived or will travel in this part of the country, it can be considered an arm-chair guide to many places in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. These places include Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly, Montezuma Castle, Wupatki National Monument, Navajo National Monument, Canyonlands National Park, Aztec Ruins, Walnut Canyon, Casa Grande and Tuzigoot National Monuments, and many more. The only thing lacking in the book is a map of the region.
