5.0 out of 5 stars Good basic clipper
I've only had this a few weeks, but so far, so good. It works well on my bichon and is not too noisy.

1.0 out of 5 stars This trimmer is a dog
We purchased this trimmer for our Labradoodle. She has a full coat, but there are breeds with thicker coats. We got about a half a dog out of the blades before they dulled and wouldn't cut. Instead they would up getting clogged on our poor pooches fur. Same experience with the replacement blades.

Our dog gave me a look that said "If you come at me with that...

The scissors in this kit weren't much better. Spend your money elsewhere.

Hello: As someone who went to school for dog grooming, I would like to say that inexpensive clippers are good ONLY for small jobs like trimming the face, little touches here and there and NOT even for that on certain types of fur. The clippers I bought for school were $400 ten years ago and blades were very expensive. they also need to be sharpened professionally when they dull. I don't groom dogs for a living, but I did for a while (then got a great promotion at my full-time job and couldn't justify not keeping that job, which is why I didn't pursue it, regretfully). If you can afford it, I would try the clippers that cost around $100, although I can't say if they would suffice or not. If they don't do the job, return them for sure. Legally, and item must perform "reasonably well" for its "stated" purpose. Hope this info helps.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Clippers, June 27, 2007
If I could give this item less than one star I would do it. These clippers worked for about 30 minutes and one third of my English Springer Spaniel, then they wouldn't cut anymore. My dog is incredibly patient but he couldn't take these. I got out some conair clippers I had bought for my husband and finished the hair cut. Don't buy these, they're terrible.

2.0 out of 5 stars pet clippers, May 15, 2009

I bought these clippers to cut my dauschaund's hair. It did a terrible job. It hardly cut through anything. They didn't last through half a haircut. I guess if your dog has fine and short hair for a slight trim you may be able to get them to work.

This dog clipper works so easy. I can't believe I was paying $45 a hair cut. Now I am saving money to. Also the dog likes it. She looks GREAT.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money, May 28, 2008
I asked around and some people said these were ok. Well I can only agree with other reviewers and say please don't buy these no matter how little of cutting you think you will be doing. You will achieve better success in trimming your pouch by simply plucking the fur. These is a horrible product that goes dull almost instantly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful Waste of Money, March 14, 2011

This review is from: Andis 18955 Home Pet Trimmer Kit in Storage Case (Health and Beauty)
We purchased these to trim our Cocker Spaniel who had long, fine hair that was not matted or thick in any way... It shaved him down once, decently, though took a while and got fairly warm. When we went to use it the second time, even after cleaning and oiling, it wouldn't cut a thing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Andis 18955 Home Pet Trimmer Kit in Storage Case (Health and Beauty)
this kit is no different than what they sell every where elses at a much lower price. It does not cut any better than the cheap off the self models at your local discount store. No difference save for the word Pet in the name.

1.0 out of 5 stars JUNK, March 30, 2011
This review is from: Andis 18955 Home Pet Trimmer Kit in Storage Case (Health and Beauty)
I have groomed my dog for several years, I thought I would try these. What a joke. My dogs hair is only about 1/2 inch long. She had a dime size matt on her leg, they would not even cut it out and it was not matted to the skin. These clippers are so heavy, they did get a little hot but not to bad. I think I attempted to use these for a total of 20 min. I cleaned them up and put them back in the box. I called the pet store I bought them from and they said bring them back. I think I am still going to contact Andis about them they were so bad. I am a big Andis fan too. How disappointing.
